  1. Bit late to party (as always) Finally treated myself to two 47xx's. 4705 was an eBay purchase which as advertised had a snapped buffer but otherwise ok. 4707 was also eBay but "brand new". Disappointed in Heljans packaging to say the least. Both models have been severely damaged in the mail. Both of them have both loco side steps busted off. 4707 there is a piece of the steps missing so gotta fabricate up a piece of plasticard to fill in the gap. Also they have one tender step bent over at a 45° angle (same side). Both have snapped drawbars under the tender. 4705 has the busted off front frame and the pony truck wheels were halfway down the side of the boiler. Heljan build quality also suspect as both safety bonnets detached and the topfeed pipes had gone walkabout . Disgraceful packaging/build quality for the original money asked by Heljan. IMO
  2. I had two of the Jackson Evans 39xx kits. They were nice etched brass and whitemetal kits. Shame the kits and artwork vanished when JE was sold. I no longer have the kits unfortunately
  3. We don't have the SCART system here but good info!
  4. Thank you for all your help gents. It was cheaper through your links than to source it locally. Gotta love Canada Post and their exorbitant pricing. Tsk.
  5. Is there EVER a need for a Johnster?
  6. Can any of you Chaps point me in the direction of a supplier of fine electrical wiring. The stuff that goes inside 00 loco's. What size/gauge of wiring is it please? Thank you.
  7. It's an eBay scam to charge "import taxes". Even when the item hasn't exceeded the import threshold they try and grab them. Tried it once with me so I cancelled buying the item. Will never bid on any item where the seller has listed with the GSP
  8. Annnnnnd you can buy cheaper brand new from Kernow themselves
  9. I offered 20 quid for an Airfix Castle that some chancer had up for £125 I was taking the pee (but so is he)
  10. I think someone was a tad desperate for this....
  11. I have no layout (or room for one), yet I still buy goodies. That is my shame
  12. I waved a little white flag and ordered No.17 Takes my Dapol Railcar count to 3. I am ashamed
  13. If you don't drop some solvent, you run the risk of splitting the plastic. Been there, seen it, etc
  14. Some interesting stuff but nuthin' to pester Uncle Lofty's wallet. (Much to Mrs L's relief)
  15. I have dozens of the original buffers and MK 1 bogies sat in a storage box. Living out in the wasteland of Newfoundland, nobody is interested in buying them on Ebay due to excessive mail rates (thanx for nuthin' Canada Post)
  16. That's a seriously out of square bogie Johnster. Surprised it runs at all
  17. Surely it's a pleasure and never a chore? <cough>
  18. Same problem with their Railroad range of coaches.
  19. The Chassis' share no common construction. A quick look at the easily available service sheets would save you hours of typing Mr J.
  20. You mean it's not ??? There was me thinking I was sat on a gold mine. Pft.
  21. Just leave the guy to his fantasy. Nothing you say is going to change his mind. Horse and water....?
  22. Bargain! I'll take two...
  23. Is this guy on crack? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F254418292075 I've messaged him and asked him if the decimal point is in the right place? He's also got mopok Hawksworth kits for 80 quid
  24. This is an ongoing problem eBay are having. I won an auction and it vanished. Eventually I got an email and was able to purchase. Sometimes I'm getting an email 24 hours after the auction has finished telling me if I've won or lost. Quite the glitch in the system
  25. Good luck. Belpaire firebox from City kit is too low so you have to graft on some plasticard extenders.
