  1. I believe Pitsea had a bay platform, on the down Tilbury side, that had a kick back siding, that crossed the road, and ended in a small yard, latterly named "the stone siding, when the bay was filled in and the siding was routed off the down Tilbury line on the London side of the crossing. A short portion remains to this day, covered in concrete sleepers for relaying.
  2. My first post was a scale length model but the Turbo was not. Made the Jubilee "Windward Isles" at the same time as these were the locomotives involved in the Harrow collision. Playing devils advocate, what about a 4-2-2 "Princess"?! With long stroke con rods, it would be very Steampunk!
  3. Precisely. Colour fades over time. So if the shade is bright, ex. works. If dulled, service sheen. If black, needs a clean! Pick a time in the life of the loco and your colour will match.
  4. When you need a model for your friends new single cover, get the DC to dress up.....
  5. I recently had a "screamer". The bush was rotating in the frame. Bit of superglue put paid to that! Smooth runner now.
  6. Edited the post as to colour.
  7. Rover Damask red auto spray paint is as near as dammit!
  8. Bless you!, but what was the range called?
  9. Got this W.D. look-a-like, made from a damaged, Tri-ang, "Davy Crockett"...
  10. Blackboard paint! Chalk it white for day, wipe off and draw the stars for night... I'll get my cloak.. SLAM!
  11. Use guitar plectrums. Easy to use and you won't damage anything if you slip.... 'cause you will...
  12. This sort of thing is endemic. Just finished reading a well known evening paper and the sentence construction, punctuation and spelling left a lot to be desired.
  13. You are correct but, type Triang class 81 motor bogie and there is a premium price attached. Get a damaged, old, Transcontinental diesel for a song.
  14. What about his other grandfather?
  15. Are both triangular plates, with locating holes, in place on the motor ends? These keep the bushings in place when under load. My one did as above. I made the missing plate, attached it to the end, problem solved. Then found the missing plate under my chair. B@s♧@rd!

If they want them gone, just say FREE to collector, or donate to youth centre, community group etc. May spark an interest in someone then...

    Nope, or Hardy...
  20. My surgery has gone over to this system and I was sceptical at first but after a few wrong turns have found it very quick and useful. Saves a lot of waiting on hold! But that's just me.
