Britomart on the way from Derails, looking forward to seeing this, and already contemplating chopping it up to make Irish Mail. (lop off cab, remove handrails etc, put blower on the correct side, lose vac pipes add dumb buffers and repaint should do it for 50s condition)

We use craftcloud at work. It's just a shop window for several commercial 3D printing companies. Do not assume that just because you have printed it they will be able to. Commercial printers rely on being able to auto everything and do as little prep and cleanup as necessary. That means thick walls and as little support requirement as possible. We generally use them for SLS/MJF and FDM prototypes usually of Chinese manufacture with a 2mm minimum. For resin work I would use Hexa³ rather than Craftcloud.

The motor's in the firebox on the Fairlies, and the DCC gubbins in the ashpan, no spare space for anything else going on in there. Charles does seem to be popular!
-
Charles preordered, and if I have the cash spare when they land I'll add the others. I still ave a board with Port Penrhyn laid out in 3mm scale. With the Hornby 2MT on the way and my existing 4F I think a Port Penrhyn diorama is a must. A Dundas Charles on Fleischmann chassis was the first 009 loco I ever made so fitting that it should be on the way. Guess I need to add a Nesta to my pre orders now too!

Google says that Dapol say 40" Radius. I wouldn't be surprised if it'll go lower, there's a good deal of sideplay on te wheels

The volvo contingent at work: My C30 and Rich the mechanic's V50, both 1.6 DRIVe diesels from Ty'n Lon Garage and at the far end of the lineup and extreme opposite end of the performance spectrum, the MSport WRC Recce car S60 T5 driven by amongst others, Elfyn Evans himself now owned by our Product Manager.

Grease Axlebox drawings
Quarryscapes replied to Quarryscapes's topic in GWR Rolling Stock: model and prototype
Those will be perfect, thanks. The plan is to backdate a Minerva Iron Mink a little bit. -
Anyone know of a source for these? specifically the type fitted to early Iron Minks?

No, it's silver or white paint depending on the particular day.

Furness Railway E1 to J1 Rebuild Question
Quarryscapes replied to GERDecapod's topic in UK Prototype Questions
The M&M 2-4-2Ts were both individual designs, neither related directly to the standard 2-4-0 tender locos. The closest relatives to the Furness conversions were Cambrian Raiways conversions of two of their 2-4-0 tender locos into side tanks for use as railmotors. -
More O gauge. Maybe a small 0-6-0 Tender loco, a Midland 2F, GWR Dean Goods, LNER J10 that sort of thing.

Few months ago, circa May, on Amazon's stock of 1Kg bottles. Of course being Amazon there is always the possibility of knock offs.

Good question, from the photos I've found the two versions of CCE headboard appear to be in use in the same timeframe and on all 3 'portions' of the journey (London-Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury-Aber and Mach-Pwlllheli). The crest on the ornate one is of course the Cambrian Railways Company Crest resurrected.

Eifionydd Farmers wagon
Quarryscapes replied to dolydd's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
There is no double F in Eifionydd, past present or future. -
Latest Anycubic stamdard stuff is pants, It went from flawless prints to useless wonky rubbish with random failures when they changed to the sealed top bottles. I'm now using Siraya Tech Fast - which is a lot tougher and prints faster. It is harder to get supports off though (I might reduce exposure a touch more and see if that helps, or just reduce their size) and thin walls will warp. (So far I haven't re designed anything to work with it or changed supports from those that were used with ANycubic resin)

If it shows a bid, then that's what it sold for

Sorry to bother 3D printer time
Quarryscapes replied to MJI's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
Leave used IPA to settle for a week or so, THEN put it in the sun. That way you don't get a bottle full of useless white slime. I leave mine settling for ages on a windowsill, then pour it out through a coffee filter to trap any bits. The resin is 99.9% now stuck to the bottom of the bottle and what comes out is perfectly usable, if stained a little yellow, IPA. I've been recycling mine this way for the past year, occasionally topping up with new to replace that lost to evaporation, cleanup and spillages. -
Cambrian wagons from Cambrian kits
Quarryscapes replied to Compound2632's topic in The Railways of Wales
Haven't trotted these out in a while. Some haven't had the grey painted, I just left it in the plastic colour, varnished over after transfers. Not 100% accurate, I will be striving to do better in 7mm scale.- 35 replies

Daft question possibly, is there a list of shed plates on these models anywhere? All the pics I've seen are too small to make it out.

CAD recommendations for 3D printing
Quarryscapes replied to NinOz's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
Fusion360 is pretty comprehensive, however it is most definitely not bug and hassle free. -
Are you DCC? Unless they've changed things recently the DCC decoder is in the smokebox, the weight in the locomotive boiler having been cut away to make room vs the earlier DC only models. If you're not DCC then the obvious answer is to remove the decoder gubbins and fill up the space with weight. In fact swapping out the existing mazak casting for a a lead replacement would be a good start regardless of control method.
