  1. Personally speaking, I wasn't aware that this was a problem on this particular loco The 2017 Airsmooth M/N's had a few reported motor problems, but no more than the norm. From recollection, the older 2005 rebuilt West Country and Battle of Britain classes certainly suffered from cracked gears. Later models seem to be fine with a redesign of the motor/chassis gearing.
  2. TBH, they probably need a good run and some lubrication after that time in storage.
  3. The new Engine Shed blog is up with the main feature dedicated to the forthcoming LMS Turbomotive locomotive:-https://uk.Hornby.com/community/blog-and-news/engine-shed/turbocharge-and-boulevard
  4. "Maybe even 2 in quick succession". A good time would be at the forthcoming Great Electric Train Show or Warley I would imagine!
  5. I've just paid a visit to the Dapol outlet in Chirk this morning. 6 Manors (Various liveries GWR Green, BR Black and BR WR Green) were on display in the newly constructed display cabinets. TBH, they look an awful lot better than the photographs being banded about. The finish does look nice, but it's the other compromises already mentioned that doesn't urge me to open my wallet.
  6. That's because he's clueless as to what a Manor boiler profile/angle should look like. Harsh I admit, but extremely accurate with regards to the majority of his reviews.
  7. "The buffers are metal. Not sprung however". Not on the original release P2 they weren't. Most definitely plastic and as No Decorum says, very fragile!
  8. I'm a bit bemused by the plastic crosshead valve gear fitment. Why Dapol? I really don't want to pull this model to pieces, but I now know why I cancelled this loco in favour of the Accurascale version !
  9. But who exactly is he "Influencing", certainly not the majority I would say !
  10. You really have to ask yourself why on earth Sam has that ridiculous curve (Gordon's Hill) on his layout? IMHO, Any loco or rolling stock would certainly have to travel slowly to negotiate such a tightly layed track radius feature to avoid derailment.
  11. Unfortunately, Sam does have a habit of contradicting himself and stating the obvious. A few weeks back, during the Deltic review, he was claiming Accurascale was much better than Bachmann with regards to fit and finish, now in the Bachmann 37 review it is much to the contrary. I have one Manor, two 37s and a 31 on pre-order with Derails and Accurascale and that won't be changing in favour of the Bachmann 37 variant.
  12. Rest in peace Robbie you will be missed buddy!
  13. Which along with the B1 being old tooling, is probably why they are languishing on the model shop shelf.
  14. That sounds about right to me, complete with difficult to shift/overproduced Hornby locos.
  15. Anyone aware of an update from Oxford on the Cowan's Sheldon crane?
  16. I can thoroughly recommend the Morley Vector if anyone is looking for a replacement for their current controller/power unit.
  17. Not to mention the boiler angle slant on the Dapol model, which is so obviously incorrect/non prototypical That is the reason why I cancelled my pre-order. The Accurascale model will do fine for me and I'm confident it will be a stunner !
  18. Meanwhile, you can still buy many of these items direct from Hornby. Unbelievable and extremely poor PR from Margate.
  19. A Stanier 8F please Fran. You know it makes sense lol ! 😊😊
  20. Hornby may live to regret how they currently treat their customers/approved dealers with regard to pre-orders. This is especially so at a time when people have less disposable income to spend on luxuries and the like, due to the current cost of living hikes. Not a good experience, especially when you look at the likes of Accurascale, who in total contrast, seem to value their customers/approved outlets.
  21. A Stanier 8F please Fran. You know it makes sense lol ! 😊😊
  22. I'm really not surprised in the least. The powers that be in UK law enforcement seem to think this is a victimless crime just because the majority of purchases are credit card based and are covered by Section 75. As you say, the losses these companies make is added on to the consumer in one way or another and the individual concerned will no doubt try his hand again as he's effectively got away with it !
  23. Will these have the same running numbers as the original release or different?
  24. Steam, diesel or electric Fran? An Accurascale Stanier 8F would do nicely thank you !
