  1. Just watched the accompanying BRM TV for July and Phil Parker’s demonstration of lettering and numbering wagons using a mapping pen and white ink, which has inspired me to get hold of a mapping pen and white link and have a go. I especially liked his comments on rivet counting and being satisfied when a model looks right. Perhaps there’s a lesson there for those on RMWeb who can’t get no satisfaction. Cheers Darius
  2. I purchased a couple of OO gauge Finetrax turnout kits a couple of weeks ago and today decided to have a go at one of them - having never tried a trackwork kit before. 30 minutes after starting, here we are. The kits are very easy to assemble. The only thing I discovered is that you need to trim carefully the soldered wires to the switch blades that engage with the tie bar to stop them fouling the moulded sleeper base. I still need to solder the electrical connections and frog wire. A truly excellent product!!! Cheers Darius
  3. Retaining walls fixed in place either side of the ramp down to the helix. Helix tunnel portal placed but not yet fixed in position. Cheers Darius
  4. Is there a OO gauge pot of gold at the foot of that backscene? Cheers Darius
  5. OK that’s fair comment. Cheers Darius
  6. The Mazepins strike me as being the “Trumps” of F1. All the money in the world can’t change your offspring from being talentless. Cheers Darius
  7. The word “Lochside” hit my mind the second I saw the photo. Cheers Darius

  10. Hi Ian, It’s an Ulster Transport Authority Multi Engined Diesel (MED) unit from the 1950s. Cheers Darius
  11. 3D prints by Smartmodels. They come as a set of four 3D printed items in OO scale. Painting by yours truly and I added the stands using 0.3mm dia. brass wire. Cheers Darius
  12. There are many ways that you can find this information on the web. For current Hornby models you can search for locomotives by class on the Hornby Website, which provides information about each loco. For second hand models, for example those that you might find on eBay, you can search the web using the Hornby “R” number for the loco. Hattons website often provides details about older Hornby models - whether they are DCC ready etc. - even though they are out of stock. A clue as to whether the models are “Super Detailed” or not is the “Super Detailed” marque on the Hornby box cover illustration - if that is shown in the advert or eBay listing. With respect to the specific models that you “want”, might I suggest that you Google “Hornby Flying Scotsman” and research the many results that arise. Cheers Darius
  13. Apart from its going to Westminster Station, which was a surface stock (current District and Circle lines) station only in 1940, i.e. no tube trains stopping there at that time - there being no Jubilee line then. Cheers Darius
  14. Given that the original work was in 2013 and was abandoned once Bachmann announced their 4-BEP, I wouldn’t bate my breath for too long if I were you. Darius
  15. Something different for the layout… Cheers Darius

  19. Scalescenes tunnel portal constructed. This will go at the base of the ramp down to the helix and will form the entry to the helix. Cheers Darius
  20. Interesting arrangement of the Austrian National Anthem before the race start. Does that mean we can have the Sex Pistols’ “God Save the Queen” at Silverstone? Cheers Darius
  21. More retaining wall lengths constructed - this time for the left hand side of the ramp. Cheers Darius
  22. See this thread for a discussion of the 1:72 and 1:76 (OO) issue and the conclusion that the relevant SandS models vehicles will fit on Warflats without looking too big. Cheers Darius
  23. Spotted this on eBay. Just the sort of quirky subject that I like - and in 1:48 scale. Cheers Darius
  24. Retaining walls for the ramp down to the helix constructed using card and Scalescenes old brown brick sheets. Cheers Darius
