  1. I suspect he does - hence the winking emoji. Cheers Darius
  2. Indeed. Cheers Darius
  3. You may have that philosophy in your dreams. Cheers Darius
  4. I did notice “Ratio” in the item description, but it was clear to me that the seller’s descriptive powers were somewhat lacking and the “Made in W Germany” stamp in the photo was something of a clincher in that respect. Cheers Darius
  5. How much of Ratio’s production was undertaken in West Germany? The “superstructure” beneath the damaged plastic base looks to be made of cardboard. Cheers Darius
  6. I have been using this “cube” camera that I spotted on Amazon. It cost £27 and fits nicely on a modified Dapol wagon chassis. It records sound as well as video and sends the stream like to a tablet or smartphone with the camera app installed. You can record the stream as it arrives. Heres an example of what you get - taken on the “Middlemark” layout. Cheers Darius
  7. I used Fox Transfers white lining decals on this DC Kits AM5 and they are great. They go on very well if you take your time with the application. Cheers Darius
  8. Is “The Yellow Rolls Royce” on the Warflat on the left? Cheers Darius
  9. Reading this thread I am frequently reminded of this quote from Winston Churchill:- A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject. Cheers Darius
  10. Alas I was unaware of this risk when I built several of S&S models’ Alvis Scimitar family of AFVs and so they fitted on my 00 Gauge Warflats with no trouble at all. Modern MBT-sized vehicles (with the exception of Warriors, which have a special cradle for use with Warwells) would certainly be too wide in both scales but they are also too heavy in any event for UK rail transport. ‘ The S&S AFV kits are nicely detailed and easy to build. Cheers Darius
  11. Rare and Unique LT Class 24 Putting aside the question as to why one would wish to repaint a Class 24 into a fictional LT livery, this model can’t be that “rare and unique” as the seller has a second one for sale. Another “Rare and Unique” LT Class 24 Unless of course they are the same model listed twice… Cheers Darius
  12. The centre coach is from one of the earlier MED sets that didn’t have the ribbed lower sides. Cheers Darius
  13. Mmmmm duck egg blue... Cheers Darius
  14. Which coaches are you using? Cheers Darius
  15. If printing these coloured bands on decal paper you are best using white decal paper rather than clear as the lighter colours will show better on the white base. With a clear base they show up a bit diluted and wishy washy when placed on the model. Cheers Darius
  16. My reading of the profit donation is that half of any excess over £50 would be donated, so that if it made £51, 50p would be donated to charity. Cheers Darius
  17. Many years ago when I was much younger my Dad brought home some second hand Model Railway Constructor magazines for me that a work colleague had given him. I remember them being in black and white and one layout in particular stood out, which I can still picture in my mind’s eye, It was a club layout that featured a minic motorway with level crossings over the railway. The picture I remember is that of an 08 shunter hauling an SR parcels van over the level crossing whilst a London bus waits. At the time I thought the layout was fantastic even though the 08 was the one on the Jinty chassis and the “scenery” comprised various buildings placed on the tables upon which the layout was set. I still think that layout is fantastic. By today’s standards the layout would be woefully inaccurate and the locomotives patently unprototypical. I don’t recall anyone complaining about this at the time - then again I tended to only look at the pictures at the time and still do. The reason for this reminiscing on this thread is what I see as tendency for people to suck the joy out of this hobby with an almost fanatical thirst for accuracy, which can never be achieved. Is KR Models Fell accurate? Having read this thread since it started, the answer is probably no. Is it possible to make an accurate Fell? Having read this thread since it started, the answer is probably no (unless you have a complete set of photos taken from all sides at the same time). Am I getting one? Yes. It will run on the layout in the company of Shinkansens and UP Challengers so perhaps accuracy is an alien concept. Am I bothered? Nooooooooooooo. Cheers Darius
  18. “Speedy” The mystery is that people are bidding on this. There is a charitable aspect as 50% of the “profits” over £50 will be donated to a charity of the winning bidder’s choice. Does this mean that the seller will make a loss if it fetches less than £50? Cheers Darius
  19. Door steps and other details added. Cheers Darius
  20. I think using decals would be easier and result in a better finish. Masking and painting narrow stripes tends to leave a ridge of paint along the edge of the mask, which can be quite visible. The decals would also be more likely to be straight and would avoid the risk of paint bleed. Cheers Darius
  21. Driving coach glazing completed and decals applied. Cheers Darius
  22. Sounds great. Why don’t you post some pictures on the layouts forum. I would love to see them. Cheers Darius
  23. Instead of flogging this particular dead horse, might I suggest you try some railway modelling or some other form of meditative contemplation. It might make you feel less aggrieved at the world in general. Cheers Darius
  24. The only decals I have used so far are the electrification warning flashes above the cab windows, which were from the (decal) spares box. Someone on RMWeb did produce “Chipmans” decals, but they were the later “triangular” letter style. Cheers Darius
