  4. The Furnace way yard has been relayed as part of the lines upgrade but only No 1 & 2 the run round.
  5. Iron Ore hoppers in sand traffic possibly with door modifications!
  6. The biggest regret I have is not dealing you could have a really good second hand camera for just over the price of a reasonable new one and taking Black & White when I should have used colour. Coupled to take photos today as it may be gone tomorrow!
  7. The number of mineral wagons in train depend on traffic. Google yard was full of MXV’s prior to shipment as they were shipping coal in large amounts! Coal concentration depots by definition as loads from different collieries were collected and delivered. Some collieries produced small amounts of Landsale others had customers that required delivery in hoppers and only a small number wanting it in minerals, many merchants didn’t want large deliveries so a 16 ton minerals were ideal and Large coal will bulk out before a wagons get to capacity. So in Northumberland in the 1980’s was only receiving small numbers of these depending on orders. Some customers required these as their discharge tippler could only handle them.
  8. The BR diagram book has the BR built ones and MoT ones that were numbered in the B series on transfer of ownership. There are also those that returned from France and they were renumbered in a new series as the original identity had been lost! this is the link http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/BRBDocuments/Freight_Stock_RDO_Issue.pdf
  9. The last major concrete problem I recall was High Alumina cement with the reaction between the steel reinforcing and the alumina!
  10. Remember when William Woolard presented Top Gear a TV program about cars rather than an entertainment program with cars! Standards are slipping.
  11. There was an item on Blue Peter in the 1970's about the building of space ship models and it showed some of the detailing parts used, reused off household items. Not sure if it was Dr Who or Blakes 7.
  12. Have you got the official Chas Roberts photo of it?
  13. Meanwhile in India a partially built bridge has collapsed!
  14. Surprised that you haven’t heard of this it is an ongoing saga, a lot of local people lost a lot of money investing in the original Sirius Mining as it went bust a few years ago and was then rescued but in effect it is a new company! currently ICL at Boulby is the only Uk producer of polysulphate.
  15. Never mind the quality feel the width! I suspect the same poor quality was a problem in the Uk at the beginning of the industrial revolution!
  16. It is a well known fact that trains should give way to pedestrians!
  17. New from Pennine, sat in my fridge for later!
  18. The internal user wagon fleets have a huge amount of variation in them , many started life as mainline but many were purpose built for the works. The HMRS photograph collection has a good selection of photo’s in it especially the Charles Roberts collection. In the NRM at York is the drawing collection and also their photo collection.
  19. Burglars can’t work from home!
  20. I assume you have a copy of this by David Monk-Steel and available from the Industrial Railway Society.
  21. Just wait a few years and you will be complaining about these once the shine and novelty has disapeared ! How long did Manchester's original trams last before complete replacement.
