  1. Hi Jim, Yes, you are correct. In order to fit the delrin chain sprockets into the bogie housing next to the gearbox you need to cut off a little of the sprocket collar. If you look at the pic below you will see how the un-cut sprocket collar (on the left) is too long (along the axle): Try to remove as little of the collar as you can though as (I may be wrong) but they seem to loose their 'grip' the more you cut-off. I'm disappointed that you've gone for the Slaters option though as I was keen to see how you fitted the fold-up gearboxes .... I'll have to buy some now and try for myself (again). Cheers Lee
  2. Hi Andy, I can only echo was has already been said so many times already (and quite right too)... this is a superb piece of modelling and a credit to your skills. Love seeing the pair of tractors and it really does remind me of the early 80's. Something else you might want to add to your locos when you detail them is the grease on the buffer heads... just a thought. Many thanks for sharing this and looking forward to the mill being built. Cheers Lee
  3. Hi Jim, Is that a JLTRT 08 as well?? Why is it condemned it looks fine to me ...and if it's condemned it's taking up valuable shed/ maintenance space Hope you manage to get more done on the tractor soon, it gets frustrating having them sitting there and nothing getting done doesn't it Will you be spraying the loco? Cheers Lee
  4. Hi Chaz, Thank you for posting this build in a step by step fashion. It's always really helpful to see the way others tackle these kits, watching the techniques used to make the build successful. I shall keep a closer eye on your thread now. Cheers Lee
  5. Alex, You will need to save a small fortune for all the OO gauge class 20's that you'll need!!! That might help you focus Cheers Lee
  6. Hi Brian, Sorry to hear about your mishap with the coach roof. That runny superglue goes everywhere.... and usually where you don't want it to too... been there done that Did you try using the Glue-Buster first??? I dare not use superglues now without that stuff nearby.... just in case Hope you manage to get sorted. Cheers Lee
  7. Hi Alex, Good luck with resisting the O gauge stuff...... I'm finding it impossible!! Please keep going with Boxenby though, your are getting so close to having the shed placed on a layout now. Cheers Lee
  8. Hi Jeremy, Your track work is looking very slick indeed. Before you know it you'll be running trains over it!! Looking forward to more updates as it's great to watch your progress. Cheers Lee
  9. Hi Lee, Good on you... I like your approach to the New Year. I hope things continue to flourish for you. I'm not sure if you read my post earlier, but I asked how you had done the O gauge tractor gauges? Is it a trade secret If it is, I'll stop asking All the very best for 2016 Cheers Lee
  10. Hi Al, Absolutely stunning. Those ground signals are a real work of art and just incredible how you have them fully working. The comparison pics are great and its getting difficult to tell between the real thing and your model!! Cheers Lee
  11. Hi Chaz, What a great idea you have come up with. The jig is great.... the amount of time I seem to spend chasing components about the table top to solder them is unbelievable. Cheers Lee
  12. Hi Jim, This might help, but check the order of yellow and white as I have a funny feeling these are the wrong way around: Failing that, just google loco buffer beam. Oh yes.... if you are not going to have the pipework connected to the buffer beam by chains you need to remove the 'pointy bit' on each pipe.... I made this mistake on my Class 40 build. Cheers Lee
  13. Brian, As a working model that look bloomin marvellous!! Cheers Lee
  14. Hi Jim, Good luck with your build. I'll be watching how you get on as I fancy having a go at the JLTRT tractor myself. I hope you have better luck than me in getting the motor and gearbox mated together correctly. I couldn't get it right for some reason and the gears just made lots of metal filings so ended up getting the Slaters gearbox instead. That's no comment or criticism of the Roxey gearbox and gears.... more of my ineptitude Cheers Lee
  15. Hi Lee, That is a superb job!! What did you use for the water tank gauges? Cheers Lee
  16. Hi Chris, Nice build.... it's pity nothing is ever straight forward though Cheers Lee
  17. Meanwhile... the rest of us watch on with our mouths open wide, wondering what on earth is happening!! Jeremy this is outstanding, hats off to you, I wouldn't know where to start. Good luck Cheers Lee
  18. Hi Brian, That looks really impressive. How will you smooth out the white metal front before spraying? Cheers Lee
  19. HI Chaz, Thank you for your words of encouragement. I do intend to purchase a wagon of sorts soon and have a go but I must admit the under frame gear always looks daunting.... something you make look so easy! Something that has got me scratching my head at the moment is 'wagon compensation'. I'm still not totally up to speed with how this is done yet, but I note how you haven't found the need for that on your railway. Except 40106 and 40122 How I wish I'd been around a few years earlier to see the fleet in green, running as you say as EE Type 4's. Watching your work with interest... and learning!! Cheers Lee
  20. Hi Chaz, Thank you for sharing your builds here in a step-by-step manner. It's great to see and will be helpful to those of us who have never built a wagon before.... but intend to (someday). Cheers Lee
  21. Hi Peter, Sorry to hear you're not having such a good modelling time too, it seems that Rick isn't having such a good time either. I can't advise on compressors as I bought mine ages ago which is quite small but is on its way out. I shall be watching to see what you get then may follow your lead (Having just seen Cav's post.... that's the one I have!!) All the best for 2016 Cheers Lee
  22. Hi Alex, Thank you. Happy New Year to you too. Cheers Lee
  23. Ah ok, now I understand. I just saw your drawing and noticed that the dimension of 7.4 was the same distance as the 7.25mm. sorry.
  24. Hi Cav, Is that 7.25mm dimension correct? Cheers Lee
  25. I can only stand in admiration of your skills on this build. I'm having trouble soldering two small pieces of nickle silver rod together
