Aurora clearly visible from my window in Cheltenham tonight. Never seen it before.

Say no to cruelty to dragons!

St Edmund is the real patron saint of England, English King and martyred on English soil.
Plus the story of the wolf guarding St Edmund's severed 'ead is far more plausible than saving a princess from a huge fire breathing flying lizard which had the dexterity to tie the princess to the tree. And where did it get the rope, B&Q or Screwfix?

And now, Radio 4 will explode...

The first law of superglue is that the item you are attempting to glue will always stick to your finger before it sticks to the surface you are trying to attach it to.

Ouch! Just had the pin of a drawing pin come through the top of the pin head into my thumb ☹️

Is painting rails even more tedious than ballasting?
-
I've got no real problem with either painting the rails or ballasting as it's satisfying when it comes together. I can understand if there's yards and yards (or metres and metres) to do - but even then broken up into small chunks, it's doable.
However, I find rails more difficult as these new-fangled acrylic paints don't adhere too well onto the sides unlike enamels. Seems to be a factory finish coating on the track.
Cheers,
Philip

Great Portland Street!
Sorry, been playing that damned tube map memory game and it was the only one in Zone 1 I couldn't think of and it's just come to me

Peco surface mount point motors stink a bit if you melt them!

To make a fridge colder do you turn it up or down?

Gapping copperclad sleepers, more tedious than ballasting

Anyone else think in terms of red frogs and black frogs when wiring points?

@Hroth said "Red and Black date back to the pre-1977 mains cable colours, you really should start thinking in terms of Brown and Blue"
... but Blue doesn't rhyme with track!!! That's why it's still Red and Black to the track. 😀

This is not a toy

I really wish Peco put a couple of extra screws in with the point motor adaptor bases, I always end up shearing one off

On target to finish all scenic track laying on Ipswich by New Year. One point left to build.

Double slips. Pain in the neck to build but really satisfying when they're done
-
I have both a curved double slip and a double slip with crossing on my layout:

The crossing was the most tricky. It's named after my late father because he liked crossings :)

Board 12 of the new layout hereafter known as Eurovision... Nil Point.
The only scenic board that has no points on it

Lays road surface across level crossing... realises *just* in time that he's forgotten to gap the copperclad sleepers under the road surface before the glue sets!

I want to get the power saw out to build more baseboards but the cat doesn't like the saw. All he wants is to sit on my lap.
