Das boot reboot? Is it any good? From reading the plot, it seems like a completely different story. If true, hard to figure out why they just didn't call it something else...

Working on the solo! Sort of vaguely got my head around the middle one, but not a hope with the outro solo (yet).

  5. My earlier status update was a bit sweary so I shall replace it with this far more seasonal one which contains no swearing. Good will to all! Except couriers.

  7. F*cking ###### courier left a parcel for my neighbour in my shed (despite us both being home) and sent a photo of the inside of my shed to my neighbour. Tw*ts.

  13. First sighting of a red kite right over our house. They've been encroaching into South Wales from Brecon for some while but not yet seen one right over head - until now!

My mother lives very close to the very end of the flightpath into Heathrow. Whenever I look out of her back window towards the planes on finals I can see at least one Red Kite. I dont even want to think about the likely consequences when the inevitable happens and one is sucked through an engine.

Would you like some of ours? We had half a dozen circling our garden the other day and our 'pet' one sits on next door's tv aerial watching our back garden very carefully or calls out for something to eat.

They are very partial to chicken skins if you throw them on the roof... make an impressive sight swooping down for them just feet away from you.

  18. Back from a trip to Snowdonia, taking in Glyder Fawr and Glyder Fach, and finally had a go on the Fairbourne miniature railway, about 40 years after first glimpsing it on a childhood holiday. Still have a few more Great Little Trains to do, though.

  19. Plagued with guilt at telling some walkers that some distant birds were stonechats, whereas in fact they were wheatears.

Blackcap short (and common), garden warbler (longer and rare).

  20. Back from a fine weekend in Carmarthen, where we saw a seal in the river Towy

    1. Hroth

      Hroth

A Great Seal or a Common Seal?

I've a photo somewhere of a seal swimming in the River Witham ABOVE Boston Sluice...

    2. Barry Ten

      Barry Ten

Supposedly Grey Seals have been seen quite a way upriver in the Towy, so I guess thats what it was. I didn't get a good look at anything except the head.

We thought it was a Labrador at first, until we got closer and noticed it was bald... I suppose they follow the fish upstream, I don't think fresh water bothers them in the short term.

  21. Finally unboxed the portable air-conditioning unit I bought in 2006.

There's a reason I never used the AC - as soon as I bought it I stopped the heatwave dead in its tracks!

Still have a bit of the film to go but haven't really hit anything I'd regard as a shocking spoiler if it was told to me in advance. Other than Chewbacca turning out to be Darth Sidious, didn't see that one coming!

It's not a loco class! It's Kelsby Light Railway No.20 'Marsh Harrier', an ex-LNWR 0-4-2 Box Tank, I believe...

      Barry Ten

General inquisitiveness; it wasn't an expensive set and I wanted to dig a little deeper than the usual radio tracks.
