Can a man have too many Wainwright C Class models? I think the answer is no.
-
That thing where you've got a tiny, fiddly, irreplaceable bit of model between tweezers and think "I really must not drop this on the floor, or I'll never find it again" - and then drop it on the floor.

Hey Mr Kit Manufacturer - you've made your kit, so presumably you know where all the bits are supposed to go? Would it kill you to include a diagram, rather than telling me to look at prototype photos?

The great thing about going to the doctor's surgery - I get to read all my old train mags in the waiting room.
-
Terrific! While drillinga new hole in my control panel for a toggle switch, with the power drill, I managed to snag the end of the drill on the existing wiring behind the panel - result, instant spahetti bolognese, wires ripped out of switches etc! Why do I never learn?
-
Top stuff - lots of useful polystyrene packing material left over from the B&Q shed. Suspect only modellers get excited about polystyrene packing.
-
Building a 12" to 1" plastic shed - surprising how much model kit experience helps with the assembly. Run out of Airfix glue very quickly though.
-
Just been to Miniatur Wunderland - can I have a bigger train room now?
-
Got those run out of orange wire and can't find me no orange wire in no model shops blues.

Popped down to Cardiff to visit the Cardiff Model Railway Exhibition. Only problem is, it's not on until next weekend. Doh!
-
Thoroughly enjoyed Jonathan Glancey's Giants of Steam - it's a cracking read digging into the careers and connections between Gresley, Stanier, Bulleid, Chapelon and so on. Fascinating stuff - Chapelon reckoned he could get 16,000 hp from a reworked Big Boy.

Saw Tornado twice today (my first time) - once from the Heathrow Express into London, and then a bit later on the train out of Paddington. Fantastic!
-
Bought the Polar Lights 1/350th kit for the Starship Enterprise but every time I open the box my brain melts at the size of the thing and the vast number of huge decals.
-
Off to the Severn Valley Railway and West Midlands Safari park - trains for me, animals for my wife - both happy.
-
Just put my Blue Pullman back in its box after 8 months of fun. Fantastic model, but time to run something else now...
-
Lovely cycle ride through the two tunnels, over Midford viaduct etc. S&D heaven!
-
The age old dilemma - drive to the model shop and back and buy stuff, or spend the time modelling with stuff I bought last time?

Back from an enjoyable time in Paris avec une Pacific E22 de Chapelon et une CC diesel 72000. Je imaginer les plans over-ambitieus pour une layout grande de Francais.

Hit another excellent train shop in central Paris - Au Pullman, near the Clichy metro. Fabulous and friendly shop, stocked with an amazing selection of French stuff.

In Paris. Already visited two nice train shops within easy reach of Metro etc, and there are a couple more on the list - it's a shame London can't be like this.

Yes, I visited that one last time but not sure which one it was now. Today I went to Opherline, by the Mitterand library - fantastic, well-stocked shop, very bright and modern, in a nice location by the Seine! Also revisited Central Train which is smaller and more like a traditional model shop, but also very good.
