  1. Bought some 3-in-1 oil today. Slightly disappointed to find that it now comes in a plastic can thing rather than a tin.

That "doink" sound invariably meant that there was now too much oil on the part being oiled!

I remember once being told by an elderly pilot friend (whom had in his later life; built his own light aeroplane and flown it `round the world!) that "one may have a life; or one may watch television....but not both!".....he wasn`t wrong!

I nearly always end up shouting at the 'banal-box' in the corner when`er it be turned on!

  9. Me front tyre (2.1 Pananracer Fire XC) has got a small rip in the sidewall. Now, do I repair said rip with a piece of duct tape on the inside or do I fit the 2.3 Cinder that's knocking about?

    1. halfwit

      halfwit

Fitting the Cinder would require a larger innertube - which I haven't got.

  10. Todays soldering problems have been fixed by fitting a Bigger Tip.

      halfwit

      Yes, and no.

      So sort off.

(Seems to hold and distribute heat better than the 1mm tip that I was using.)

  15. High levels of illiteracy in Buxton! (Judging by the amount of people that still insist on walking dogs on the fairway despite the golf club erecting a bigger 'no public beyond this point' sign...)

  17. Should I ever build and exhibit a layout (highly unlikely!) I have several wagons ready to roll out in case things get too serious - a couple of Ratio vans in freelance brewery liveries for example. Whilst authentic operation is a goal for the majority of us we're not going to get every detail right, we're only human after all, and the pedants should remember that before patronising those that do more than just research and actually build stuff! Paul.
  18. Looks very clean and tidy Frank! I use an old bureau sited in the dining room, which means that it can be closed up with my tools safely stored away when necessary. Paul.
