There were some wonderful cars on show today but this gorgeous little Fiat 124 1800 Sport Coupe really caught my eye, for sale at £14,995 it's a rare gem, particularly in right hand drive form... Spent a good hour or so chatting with the owner / seller of this fabulous (and no doubt overlooked by some) Dino 308GT4, recently restored to a very high standard I couldn't stop looking at it... As Bertone's only Ferrari commission, it was actually based on a rejected prototype for the earlier Lamborghini Urraco. I sat in it for a while, soaking up the very '70s interior, and imagined driving it across the Alps for a rendezvous with Monica Vitti or Romy Schneider... sigh... Me neither but trying it on for size I rather liked the driving position in the Dino, being of the 'Italian ape' persuasion with long arms and short legs I felt right at home and the cockpit seemed surprisingly spacious (in the front half at least). The only LHD cars I've ever driven were on private land before I'd passed my test, a pair of imported Fords, one was a Mk1 Granada and the other a modified Mk2 Capri and last year I attempted to have a wee spin in my mate's Camaro but felt distinctly uneasy in it. A few more from this morning including some 'barn finds', there must be a factory churning them out somewhere... A shape which never gets old... Upper crust and no mistake... Nice 'recreation'... Genuine Neville Tricket Minisprint... The cute Fiat 124 again... Fab SM... Half timbered BMC load lugger... Another Marcos sans dust and dirt... Lovely Daimler Double Six, looks very long in this pic but the Ferrari Mondial on the right is almost the same size... BMW M1... ''Gentlemen, start your motori...'' I did however get lots of goes in this. 1725 GLS with alloy head and overdrive. What a lot of fun could easily take on any Cortina 1600E at any speed. edcayton Posted April 1, 2017 Share Posted April 1, 2017 LHD. On most small cars the driving position is better because of the relationship between the wheel arch and the pedals. The white one on the right 'JLL 831K' was later resprayed dark blue and was sold recently for around £900k, bonkers money but nice all the same. steve1 Posted April 2, 2017 Share Posted April 2, 2017 Whilst driving to and from the dump and garden centre today I saw: An immaculate Humber Sceptre Mk III in sage green and light coloured leathercloth roof (Twice going both and and from) A pale blue MGB GT with a dark blue room and Milinlite pattern wheels. An L-reg Vauxhall Cavalier booted 4 dr saloon, in excellent condition if a little grubby. A case of the once normal becoming unusual...
