  1. Past hour
  2. Working properly now. I made the silly mistake of selecting the wrong attachment points on the 7 plank wagons.
  3. Indeed - from what I remember, the thrust of Roy Link’s original 1978 article was precisely that: his aim was to show what could be done in a small space to get a layout built. The choice of GWR branch line as a theme was therefore a secondary consideration - he opted for it to make it as easy as possible. The Airfix 14xx and Autocoach were suggested (I think he said the run-round loop was not long enough for a B-set anyway). Sadly, I had to put my own plan for a TT:120 version of the plan on long-term hold, but I’d still love to do it one day, Keith.
  4. I've had results by listening politely to their speil for a minute then announcing that I don't need double-glazing and shut the door. Its also fun to fight fire with fire and say that you already have a personal friend in Jesus before shutting the door firmly. HH: Small engines, but beautifully formed. If you like red coloured engines...
  5. I will be at the work bench later today in an attempt to get these buffers working as they should, thank you to @MrWolf and @stevel for their suggestions which will be further looked into. Hopefully, when I report in this evening, it will be good news 😊
  6. I've got this one you can have, Paul
  7. Yesterday, I noticed that Rails of Sheffield added the next batch of Dapol Toplights into their expected stock list for June / July. July suits me nicely for these as I can pick them up when we are in the UK this summer.
  8. Yesterdays progress at Henley-on-Thames, saw the C22 make further progress. Which included fitting NEM Kadee couplings and then it was ready for a spin round the layout behind one of my 57xx. The final job will see the door hinges sorted out, then it will be sprayed. Seen here with a Toplight carriage which has had new MJT American bogies fitted. Previously it had Collett 9ft bogies, which have been cascaded to my H57 to replace the 6 wheel bogies. I have never been happy with the running of these, so this carriage is now in the available stock fleet. Both carriages happily ran round the layout - so just need to be painted.

    Little Muddle

Lets have a WKT morning post a series of picture taken the other day when the formation was out and about. Interesting and unusual build. Still undecided whether to put any transfers on the tank wagon but I expect I will,,,,,,one day.

    EBay madness

Its the residual distrust of too much learning, of those clever beggars who know more than you do. As the vice-chancellor of my university said while shaking my hand as he awarded me my MSc, "I hope it was worth it". Its not what you want to hear, and no, it wasn't... A Doctorate is a "Floppy Hat" degree because the academic dress includes a soft Tudor bonnet, rather than the hard mortar board of a Bachelors or Masters degree.
  11. Hi Folks, Does anyone in the know, have any idea as to if delivery in the 2nd quarter of 2024 (next month) is still on track?
  12. What are the cables that are marked in the photo? Are they the MU/UIC cables or ETH
  13. Poor girls, I don't think they realised what a lucky escape they had..... 'Please come in, and look at my train set!' 'Come back, Don't run away....' 'Don't you want to talk about the Midland Railway small engine policy?'
  14. I would ask about the situation of Eve and Adam’s Rib! Or if persistent, I would invite them in for a glass of blood from the latest sacrifice!!!! Always worked. Paul
  15. @monkeysarefun love to see Kangeroos in the wild like that. Not quite the same but I see these almost every day when I'm walking the dog.
  16. It worries me when in so many instances the title of Doctor is preceded by Mad, Evil and suchlike in modern culture! Mike.
  17. Thank you, I might try that on another loco. I was trying to use stuff I've stashed away and I've got a Craftsman detailing kit and finecast flush glazing to use. Years ago I stashed, (hoarded!) all sorts of bits and pieces and I've given myself a task of detailing all my older locos to practise my skills and see what can be done with older stuff. You wouldn't know a good paint match for Hornbys BR blue by any chance? I was thinking of just touching in any etched brass bits and just repainting the yellow ends.
  18. They do Laserglaze for the Hornby 25 too and it’s deffo worth splashing out on his stuff. A lot of my locos have Laserglaze fitted.
  19. There was a car show down the road at the local school today. Went in search of some Modern Classics. Not sure if its modern or a classic but I took a picture anyway for the LOLs. Sobering to think that this is like 35 years old now... It was a sad day when Holden pulled out of here. We used to get stuff like this - a large wagon with a 6 Litre V8 in it - now its all SUV's and 4 door pickups.. One of the last of the Falcon V8's This Kia Stinger scrubbed up pretty well. The Stinger could well become a Modern Classic even if its just for putting some street cred into the Kia range. .....although its creases and bulges look a bit fussy compared to the days when lines were simpler:
  20. Morning all, and thank you for your thoughts. This project is certainly proving to be a bit of a challenge, at times, a classic one step forward, two steps back. Today should have seen a start on the ballasting as the track weathering, not as involved as other layouts, wouldn't have been far off finished. But before I do anything else, I need to sort out this issue first. Rob
  21. Today
  22. @97406 thank you, the A1 is a bit cheaper, but there's more stuff I might want though. I might have to make up an order for Shawplan, that's a nice list of stuff they do!
  23. PECO have the following on their website. I know there can be delays between product announcements and release... Page has "will be relaunched in the New Year". https://peco-uk.com/pages/helmsman
  24. As I'm also interested in canals this video caught my eye. It's well produced and the drone footage has proper, informed comentary. It concentrates on where HS2 crosses the Oxford canal. Jamie
