winterbournecm
Perhaps go back in time to 1983 and install a smoke generator in the roundhouse for those Monday morning cold starts? You can almost smell the acrid exhaust in this shot of 37182 coughing her guts up on a frosty day in January.

Indomitable026
Couple of "5s" at York today... If you squint your eyes you may see in the back ground what I think is the first steam loco to use Yorks new turntable. History!
winterbournecm
St Blazey suddenly came to life recently with a burst of engineering traffic and the CDAs which now tend to reside there during a weekend. Here are some pictures, no 37s unfortunately.

BTW spent the weekend building a "Clayliner" rake for the Black Country Blues project. Clay hoods next for DitD.
Indomitable026
Right then, The last few modelling days have been taken up putting a 'Clayliner' rake together, initially for use on the Black Country Blues project but it may also be the catalist for back-dating 'Diesels in the Duchy'. Anyway progress is below.... This is the base coat. Next jobs; I'll pick out different plank colours, Spray the insides off-white, Paint planks black for numbers Apply numbers Dry brush weather The plan is to finish for BCBs showing at Ally - Pally to accompany that beautiful new Western

Indomitable026
Hi Damian - a nice variety of types there, can you tell me which kits you've used? Looking forward to seeing how you represent the sheeting... Hi Rich There are three types of wagon; - Parkside Dundas LNER five plank - Parkside Dundas BR High Fit - Dapol 5 1/2 plank (bought unpainted bodies only and added new chassis) I'm modelling the 'empties' first off, but yes will have to face the sheet problem at some point...... Progress today (stopped for official duties now) is that i've sprayed the insides off white, painted the black data boxes and started to pick out replacement planks,

Indomitable026
And yes i know they need roller bearings..... But that'll have to wait, I didn't realise how much work this was going to be to get them to this stage

RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted March 10, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 10, 2013 Cheers for the kit details, Damien. And yes i know they need roller bearings..... Not all of them - on Paul Bartlett's site, there's a large proportion without roller bearings dated around 1979 (haven't 'scientifically' determined what percentage tho' ) The thing that's more often missed is that the 'clayhoods' largely did NOT have roller bearings - unlike the Bachmann and Ratio versions which both do.....
