No Decorum
I would guess that the Model Rail/Heljan 48 should be here at roughly the same time as the 47s. Does anyone (MR subscribers, for example) have any news?

I’d also noticed last month there was a post on Heljan UK here https://www.Heljan.co.uk/post/oo-class-47s-due-february-2024 Cheers Peter I am not too fussed about 47s, but that video came up in my YouTube feed. RMweb Gold Roy Langridge Posted February 11 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 11 I know I have said it before, but it is such a shame that Heljan seem to have modelled a single cab front spacing for the foot steps, and it is, in my opinion, the less common spacing. Gives the face a pinched look. Roy
rob D2
I like Ben Jones , he comes across well. I still think the shape of the Bachmann one is better. It seems to be a bit tall this one , for some reason it reminds me more of this . 3 3

Imagine one without the connecting doors and with 2 cab windscreens. I remember an article back in the 80s where somebody kitbashed it from a class 31. It looked good too. 1
dj_crisp
While I don't like comparing models as you never know if the one you're comparing to is right or not... seeing this one next to a mk1 kind of highlights why things look so off on this one. RMweb Premium Trainshed Terry Posted February 14 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 14 I am going to keep my current Heljan 47, yes they are a tad wide, But the cost of the new ones are out of my price bracket. But well done to Heljan on doing a great job of re-tooling this model. Terry.

Fredo
Hi, it would be nice if you made a model of one of The Generator Brush type 4’s between D1500 and D1519. Have you consider it? Thanks Fred
greg81
The NSE class 47 looked good on the Heljan stand at Model Rail Scotland. Very tempted. Edited February 25 by greg81
RMweb Gold 90136 Posted February 25 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 25 I’ve taken a punt on the Porterbrook 47 from Key Publishing, always liked the livery. Will be my first Heljan 47. Hoping it blends nicely with the Bachmann ones.

Agree - mechanically apart from an early Hymek with the brass wheelset and the well known 'floppy NEM mount' everything I have had from Heljan up to and including the class 45 has been bombproof reliable, smooth as silk and will pull anything you hang behind it as if it wasnt there. If Heljan could just pay more attention to body shape they'd be leading the field now in the 4mm D&E sector.

There just appears to be something off about the Heljan model I can’t quite put my finger on it.
RMweb Gold 97406 Posted February 26 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 26 (edited) All of my Heljan locos have been fine including my one tubby duff which was bought second hand. Until the Accurascale 37s with sound replaced it it was the loco of choice to haul the track cleaning wagon around the layout.
