I often say to folk that talk about Parking fees, " How much do you pay for a couple of Pints?" or "What's a Costa Coffee cost these days?" OK it's more to do with the, "Bl00dy Council Car Parks should be Free!" jobbies.

Cheers - thanks for the reminder - have just "late paid" for yesterday's parking - had forgotten - saved me more than a few few quid there👍

- had driven there straight from a N shift on the DLR so was parked in a corner of the car park pushing up Z's by 05:45 waiting until 09:30.

Enjoyed the whole exhibition - layout - traders and manufacturers - thought the Cavalex lads were kind of pushed out of it tucked right over the back of the hall,

Ally Pally is just the most amazing building with an unrivalled view over N & E London.

Passed Hugh Grant on the way out - presume he was going into the exhibition.

Well if he did he didn't have a look at Top Yard, unless he did when Clive was playing on it! Miserable get!

A great weekend, well done to all involved in the organising. Despite the parking tribulations, all went relatively smoothly. Top Yard is starting to grow on me, and seemed to appeal to a few people, especially the fellah who described the scenery as 'Gravettesque'! I will take that as a complement, though Gordon and Maggie may beg to differ! So onwards and upwards then!

Well done everybody, you've all done very well!

I was directed to a parking spot by people in high viz, I went to pay and was told by them it was free for people visiting the exhibition.

As for the show I did think it was lacking, no if very few specialist traders. Some layout were nice but there was nothing wow that I hadn't seen before.

I was parked in exhibitor parking bay 1 in the Paddock yesterday, displaying my exhibitor label thingey, but on checking the ECP 'Late Pay' website, it was me to pay. I have messaged @SteveCole so hopefully it can be sorted.

Other exhibitors should check here:

Thanks for the link, I was in Paddock exhibitor parking, my car is listed as owing one hour at £1.50 plus £0.20 ‘Convenience Fee’, on Saturday for 17:29 to 18:29.

17:29 is when we drove out of the carpark to go home at the end of the show!

Cake was a bit of a disaster. There is a promising independent baker in Muswell Hill where I was staying. I stocked up on giant cookies, as they are easily transportable.

Each was like eating dust. They went in the bin!

Ye gods man, couldn't you have dunked them?!

I was also in Parking Bay 1 Paddock yesterday and it is reporting correctly that I arrived at 08:16, but that I owe £8.20.

On a happier note, thanks to all those who dropped by and chatted with me on City Basin Goods during the show and sorry if I didn't get round to all your layouts over the weekend.

We had a great time with The Yard, very pleased with all the kind comments we received, much appreciated, makes all the hard work worthwhile. The lorries and crane were popular, the supplied sturdy show barriers proved popular for leaning and watching the layout in operation.

The show Stewards were all very helpful.

The only downside, which is entirely our own doing, we did not get much chance to see the rest of the show, the layout needs constant operating, there is nothing you can just leave running. Will rely on the photos and YouTube videos posted over the coming days to catch up.

The weekend is catching up with me today, will leave it a while before working through the small snagging list, ready for the next show in July.

There was actually a sign up on the Paddock car park machine saying parking was free to exhibition visitors. I queried this with a steward and they said it was free for exhibitors only - although that's not what the sign said. Later I noticed the sign was gone, but I wonder how many will receive letters?

Having lived in a country where parking was free everywhere (with the exception of a couple of government high security buildings), I cannot understand how we have got to a situation where in the UK you now have to pay to go almost anywhere, even when you are a customer of the business or community concerned. And it you don't pay, private companies are somehow empowered to levy "fines"... us Brits seem to be a tolerant lot...

Would or should I know what he looks like?

Any how I am not a miserable git, a grumpy bu88er may be.

As for "Gravettesque" it was worth giving his guide dog a Bonio  so it would say a nice compliment to boost your ego. 😉

Thanks for asking me again to ride shotgun, and sorting out the lifts with John and Stu.

No. Dunking just means cakey porridge in the bottom of a cup.

In other news, I could have sold a couple of copies of your Titfield book to people enjoying my little diorama.

Left over from a previous event apparently. When Cathy spotted it, the venue were politely requested to take them away.

Parking at the Hydro for Model Rail Scotland is £11 after the first hour!!!

That’s why I take the train . Exhibition centre seems to cost the same as if I’m going to Glasgow Central

It's like £1.80 for a return ticket from Central to Exhibition (did that as it got me a cheaper seat with Avanti).

Good Grief.  I won't be going there!

The show is excellent and if you are in Watford then the train is going to be the most cost effective means to get there.

I really enjoy the show, I go on the Friday as the trains are quieter without weekend travellers and you see stuff you won't normally see south of the border.

I was quoted £147 return Bham to Glasgow and there didn't seem to be cheaper options so I swerved it. And that's the problem... when die-hard enthusiasts are driving to events, the railways have an affordability problem. Car shares often end up a lot cheaper.

That's been happening for years. I know several who wouldn't take the train no matter how little it cost.

Mine from Warrington booked three months in advance £29 out and £17 return with Avanti.

The official SEC parking is very expensive and there is often a jam when leaving.  Other and better parking options are available (one is mentioned in this thread) and the train is convenient, even if only parking elsewhere and taking the train for the final part of the journey.

Thanks to Phil Parker for the Parking charge info.

However, I only spotted all this because I was looking to see if anyone had posted video of our layout.

I think Warners may have a big problem with anyone that doesn't see this thread for any reason.

Over the Steve Cole I think.

Dave.

Sadly work commitments meant I couldn't attend this year, but it looks to have been a great show. Could anyone help me with the name of london underground cameo layout, near to the Double o gauge association stand please? Just caught a glimpse of it in a show video.

I think you may be referring to the MRC's 'York Road' which is a 2mm finescale representation of the tube that fits with the rest of Copenhagen Fields in the full setup
