Next batch of Class 70's

^^^^

Not many undergrown lineside locations left for photographing passing trains in the countryside!

Nope but they're going to cover this one in 'orrible galvanised poles and wire fairly soon.....................

My hope is that the electrification will at least provide the clearing of a load of this shrubbery but I'll not hold my breath...

A couple of months ago there were a few decent gaps in this shot. With HSTs diverted due to a signalling issue at Pangbourne, there was no test shot prior to the 70s either.

70802 leads 70807 and 70809 past Langley Burrell with 5 Salmon in tow working 6M50 Westbury - Bescot 2/7/14

Next day, only one loco, but a much better consist and a clearer view:

70807 speeds along the embankment near Christian Malford before tackling Dauntsey Bank with 6M50 Westbury - Bescot 3/7/14

Finally a green one, first one of these I've seen for a few months.

70016 howls past milepost 71 1/2 at the site of Shrivenham station working 4O59 Wentloog - Southampton 5/7/14

yeah that is the first colas 70 up that way, i was asked to work it from toton to cardiff (with a conductor) but couldn't due to other commitments this evening

First one I've seen, ugly as sin but they are impressive particularly in the Colas colours.

Their original plan was for the Class 68.... very strange. I prefer 68 as well.... suits it more.

Been photoshopping recently, and come up with this, a DRS compass liveried 70 (70101)

The photo used, is copyright to Gareth Bayer ?© who has kindly given me permission to post this image

Want a livery request? Just ask, and I shall see what I can do.

Any chance of a class 68 in colas livery.

Apologies if this has been answered before & I've missed it.

Why have some of the Freightliner 70's gained red buffershanks?

Is it something to do with the one's that have had the cooling mods?

Cheers,

Phil.

70009 seems to have traces of red meaning a red buffer but not sure if that is connected with the mods or not - possibly the buffers have been overhauled.

70009 on 4L93, 09:56, Crewe Bas Hall S.S.M. - Felixstowe North F.L.T.

I noticed the 'do not hump' sticker on the buffer. :mosking:

The photo looks like it's already been "humped"........ (I'm sure the RMWeb obscenity filter would remove another word for "humped"................) :jester:

Cheers,

Mick

Colas class 70s were out to play at Horsham today. Part of the old yard is currently being rebuilt (I heard they are putting in new carriage sidings, more or less where the old Chipmans sidings were).

The loco closest to the camera is 70808...no idea what the far loco is.
