RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted July 10, 2016 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 10, 2016 I'd be interested in seeing a list of rolling stock that might be available to purchase. I'd be horrified. Seeing everything in one place or on a single list would probably be quite scary. What you interest in Rob?

Indomitable026
STOP PRESS! Folk can't have helped but notice that Treneglos has been a little quiet of late on the exhibition front and, to be fair, just about every other front too! Our last outing was Barnstaple in 2014, and it was probably a good year or so before that that we exhibited. Over this period John, Damian and I have been merrily avoiding the herd of elephants in the room. They are: We've all got other modelling projects to keep us occupied. Damian has DitD and his under construction Lynton and Barnstaple layout. John has Outlaw stuffed in his shed and has several other ideas occupying his thoughts. I've got my long-term 7mm Bodmin North inspired layout. We also support a number of other 'group' layouts including BCB. Work commitments keep at least two of us more occupied tan we'd wish. Apart from the work to prep the layout for Barnstaple in 2014, no work has been done on the layout in 4+ years. The layout is too long to use in any of our homes and therefore only gets played with at shows. It lives somewhat unloved in roofspace storage at my house, takes up lots of space and is a pain to extract to work on. Don't get me wrong, we love the layout and, when it attends shows, love all the positive feedback from punters. We've had some really great memories because of the layout. It's all still in good working order and, in our opinion looks good. BUT.... We've now acknowledged that it's time to move on. In an ideal world this is what we'd like to happen next: We twist Mr York's arm to take some photos and BRM to accept a farewell article - something on look back on when I'm even older. Attend one last show. We've had a few ideas but my preference would be something in the South West. I've sent details to David Harding at Exeter show to see if he's interested for 2017. But other suggestions are welcome. Sell the layout. We'd like to sell it on to somebody or some group that wants to use and exhibit it. This is preferable to the scrapping option but, lets face it, a layout in constant storage is no better off than being scrapped. Please contact me by PM if you have any interest in taking the layout on. Me to significantly thin down by 4mm SR stock to fund nice shiny 7mm stuff. We've not yet ironed out exactly what would be included in the layout sale but we're certainly keeping the two lattice signals built by dear departed friend Fred Shilton. That's all folks... RMweb Premium ELTEL Posted July 10, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 10, 2016 It will be sad to see it move on as when it was built, all the group were Stafford Railway Circle members before both jobs and the formation of Staffordshire Finescale Modeling group moved them to pastures new. Like Chris has said it would be great for it to be on the exhibtion circuit and the south west is a ideal stomping ground for it. Having seen Treneglos rise from its basic board construction at Damian's house through to its, I think, first exhibtion at Stafford it has a special place in my life. As a guest exhibitor at a number of exhibtions including the infamous Wadebridge exhibition where John and Chris had to escort the late Fred Shilton to the room a little / lot worse for drink on the Friday night (next morning we walked to the exhibition as nobody dared to drive). Cornish Pasties at lunchtime sorted us all out. And then there was the trip to an exhibition in France somewhere near Le Mans, Pete Griffits and I drove the van with Chris & John in the support car (ask Chris about the sat nav). What a great weekend that was. To the lucky buyer and if you do purchase the green class 22 diesels, they will need running in. They were barred when John was operating, so only ran while John was on lunch. Terry
RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted July 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10, 2016 I am pleased to say I saw Treneglos at the Tonbridge Exhibition in 2012, was just as impressed as expected, and have noted its recent absence from these pages with concern. So on that basis Chris's invitation to purchase is welcomed, because surely this is much too good a model to scrap. Like most people, I find 10 metres to be a bit daunting, although my covered - but not otherwise weatherproof - terrasse is exactly that length. Sadly the storage issue and delivery costs make this a non-starter. I sincerely hope the layout can be cherished by someone with the funds and the space.

westerner
I too saw Treneglos at Spalding in 2011. It was better than it looked in the article in Railway Modeller and it looked very good in the mag.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted July 10, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 10, 2016 (edited) A superb layout. Whilst it may be sad to see it move on, it will be great if it does in that it will survive. Edited July 10, 2016 by roundhouse
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted July 11, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 11, 2016 Right, I would be happy to part purchase this layout as I can no longer justify buying the whole thing as I wanted to do before I started SOSJ. This is a serious (for once) offer and if anyone else in the Midlands (ish) would be interested in a part ownership then please PM me. I'd be quite happy to be a 'supportive' part owner with running rights as I don't think I can any longer lug stuff around exhibitions. Chris I think you know what I would be interested in stock wise? Ns with flat sided tenders and unbuilt Bulleid Coach Kits please. Thank you. Phil
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted July 11, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 11, 2016 We were very pleased that you brought Treneglos to Barnstaple a couple of years ago and was very well received. I remember seeing Treneglos a few years ago at Stafford, long before i knew you all. It would be great if you bring Treneglos down to the south west again!

RMweb Premium Gwiwer Posted July 12, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 12, 2016 It's a superb layout and if it's time to move on for its present management then I sincerely hope other(s) can come forward. It's a shame that I do have 10m of space and plenty more besides but none of the purchase funds, removal logistics nor audience for such a layout on the far side of the planet. It would sit very comfortably side-by-side (or even end on ) with a North Cornwall idea of my own which currently is unlikely to develop beyond the idea stage. I wish it well.
