RMweb Premium Barry O Posted August 21, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 21, 2015 Is this a British industrial? If it is then I would agree with the second sentence. Regards Yes it is. A lot up in the North East (NCB and Consett steelworks being two owners). Built by Kitson of Leeds - an absolute belter of a UK designed and built industrial!
Les1952
There was also one in South Wales that passed to the GWR. I did put it on the DJModels wishlist... Les

Andrew Young
Les be quicker getting Mike to turn it into a JE kit as he will deliver these. baz That'd be good, especially if there was a 7mm scale option... Cheers, Andrew
tywynwharf009
long boiler dirty 3 quarters dirty (1280x706).jpg if only it was a kit.... The model pictured is not our work but keep an eye out on the Narrow Planet website under the Tyneside Models section in the next coming months. We are developing the kit in 3mm, 4mm and 7mm. Will include body and chassis both. https://narrowplanet.myshopify.com
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 9, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2015 (edited) ERM mike already has it in 4mm ....and it seems to go together very well. When will yours be ready? Perhaps you could talk to mike to save you some effort? Is it OO/EM/S4? As narrow planets specialise in narrow gauge? brianthesnail96
I thought Mike's one (which is undeniably lovely) was a scratchbuild and there's no firm intention to introduce it as a kit? Obviously Mike is sorted for one, but as for the rest of us... (well, not me, as I'm a raving incompetent, and working in 7mm anyway). That said it's hardly the height of etiquette to advertise your kit range on a thread for someone else's!
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted September 9, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2015 It's designed as a kit and I have made moulds for most of the fittings in it. It will probably need some lost wax castings as well for the safety valves and injectors at least. Next step would be to correct the etch, all the notes are made - so as I said earlier, keep asking for it. Best to ask the boss directly at a show.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted September 9, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 9, 2015 One more mention, I still have it at the moment so may well bring it to Expo EM this weekend.
RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 10, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 10, 2015 So if you are at Expo EM North go and ask Judith for a kit! Suggest you do it nicely. Baz

RMweb Premium Barry O Posted September 15, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2015 sounds like the boss may allow it to be a kit... I have verbally ordered one today.....
pete55
Comet does the BR pony truck and Branchlines (I think) does lamp irons. Regards Comet also do a nice little etch of BR standard loco steps......just the job for the front end.
Horsetan
Comet also do a nice little etch of BR standard loco steps...... As does Branchlines, which includes tender ladders on the same etch.

Horsetan
..... he didn't rule out the stainer 2-6-2T. Indeed he didn't and although I'm not in the market for one, I hear on the grapevine that it already exists in the metal...... #needtoknowbasisonly
RMweb Premium Blandford1969 Posted September 21, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2015 Did he mention at all the Fowler one he was working on?
Horsetan
Did he mention at all the Fowler one he was working on? That one also exists, as far as I understand it. Haven't seen it for real, though, but others have. Edited September 21, 2015 by Horsetan
RMweb Gold farren Posted September 21, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2015 Better start saving up for one of each then
Horsetan
Never quite understood the fascination with the Fowler 3P 2-6-2T, though. Famously underpowered (it had a Jinty boiler!) and not exactly God's gift to good looks. To be really authentic, you'd have to install a K's HP2M (last generation) motor in the model. RMweb Premium Blandford1969 Posted September 21, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 21, 2015 The Stanier ones are certainly an attractive looking engine (to me anyway) that and the Fowler ones also appeared at quite a few places have always had a interest for me, well that's my excuse anyway. Roll on kits for both..
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted September 22, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 22, 2015 I don't know where all these rumours appear from but the Stanier 3P is a long way off and definitely no metal yet. Fowler 3P does exist in unbuilt test etch form. The boss has agreed to do the Kitson long boiler 0-6-0PT sometime next year - thanks to everyone who twisted her arm at EM north and Scaleforum.
