if they are not so rare have you seen them ever before on ebay?

I never claimed they were not rare.  He claimed they were rare and I pointed out they looked like the real thing (because he used a pic of the real thing )

Not too ridiculous but this definitely isn't Bachmann and £60 is overpriced for what it really is plus it's not pristine.

Yes...this is a Hornby version. The W8 on the back is NOT an Isle of Wight number....this loco was, I believe, from a DCC set. Funnily enough, I have a body from one of these!

A case of right box, wrong model....reminds me of the "Mastermind" game, with the pegs in the board...right peg, wrong place!

:O   While the models are not that good (one dates from the early fifties and is now well past its sell by date) they didn't deserve this fate (Please give them a decent burial).

Surely cremation is a more apt fate? :jester:

Cheers,

Mick

DRS stuff commands some scary prices on ebay......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-OO-GAUGE-CLASS-37-NO-37409-IN-DRS-LIVERY-SOUND-FITTED-SPECIAL-EDITION-/121272435078?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item1c3c668186

and it's not even the seller that professes RTR repaints as "kit built".......

The 'kit built' seller has a couple of locos in DRS livery which have been on ebay for many months. One of them I'd quite like, but not at the price he's trying to charge!

And I quote:

the coach has a plastic roof, internal partition, metal bogies and other parts, as per the photos. couplings and brake gear not included.

the full colour acetate teak sides are missing as well as the metal side re-inforcement tin strips.

wheels, bogies and roof vents are included. .

this is an interesting coach to build and it will look good on a layout.

there are 2 boxes, but one contains only plastic offcuts from another coach (see photos).

Remember: the acetate sides are missing and need to be replaced with something.

I like the use of the word "interesting"

Cheers,

Mick

P.T. Barnum again? Currently at £200, which is approaching the price for an original article! (The 99p start price was entirely reasonable!)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-DUBLO-3-RAIL-CITY-OF-LIVERPOOL-PRO-REPAINT-NR-MINT-/310859967752?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4860b2ad08

Something appears missing from the tender underframe and how can a repaint be "mint"? There is no guarantee she was originally a 'Liverpool' and not a 'London' anyway (not that I'm suggesting she wasn't!).

Or for rather less (both in price and quality of finish).

LMS experts will know why she can't be 'Duchess of Abercorn' (apart from the BR(M) maroon livery, which she never bore - once in green, always in green).

And finally  a good, honest seller ('warts and all' in the description and again 99p start - I would rate her higher than "poor to fair"! - average/good at least and the nickel wheeled replacement/repaired chassis is quite hard to find in itself).

Looks like a non-original tender coupling. The underframe has the holes for 3rd rail pick-up plangers....but I think they all did? (or it could be an 8f Tender?)

Dublo 'Cities' and 8F tenders have the same underframe (obviously 'Cities' and 2 rail 8Fs do not have the plunger pickups) (it was also used on the first Hornby streamlined 'Coronations). This one has been 'got at between the axleboxes and is missing the sections below the 'cut outs' - see 'Rails' offering, (I can't imagine why anyone would go to all that trouble! - Remove the rivets and the rear steps* maybe...). As a late introduction, I would assume 'Liverpools' have nylon couplings and both lions left facing (but there could have been surplus stocks left over!). The couplings were usually fitted with rivets, but this one might be an export version.

* For a streamlined tender, as correct for Dublo's 'City of London', though not for 'City of Liverpool; which had the original tender from Duchess of Atholl'. (Coronation tenders are rather a minefield!)

Anyway, she sold for £200 - a lot more than I would have paid, professional repaint or not......

Here's the genuine article

"As new in box, front right buffer missing."  (shakes head, walks sadly away)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321320225019?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

I asked the question,

"If this is as new why has it got a buffer missing?"

and this is the answer I received:-

Dear andytrains,
Why ? Isupppose it came off when someone was looking at it its never been run

You just can't win with some people can you.
I wish I had the power to look at things and they come apart!!!!
