Says he's unable to test yet he's selling a Lima transformer and some N gauge track in other lots

...and he can't even read and copy the name on the side of the B100dy thing - "The Fife and FORFAR Yeomanry" is even clear in the photo

The items under the "TRAINSET" include the following masterful description.......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Train/291381013533?_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29317%26meid%3Da43208a53a7647c9b8d60141a89e986e%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D261778836389

Possibly Jouef?

I wonder why the seller has bothered with a "reserve"?  Why not just list it at that price....it doesn't cost any more these days, with the 20 "Free" listings a month thing!

It's a Jouef 141R, you can just about make out the old Jouef logo on the underside.

Worth about £25 in good boxed condition.

JB

Edit: I am of course referring to the old model, which this is. The new one fetches about £250, which is why you'll never see me modelling in French HO.

Here is another loco which has been renumbered and 'weathered' without being taken out of the box-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-LOCO-32-326-CLASS-25-1-BO-BO-DIESEL-25054-BLUE-LIVERY-BNIB-/331479863106?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d2dbd4f42

Its a shame none of this is mentioned in the listing.

Presumably the rest of the loco still in the box is umweathered then, unless he's got a magic airbrush?

Chancer.

The suspense was killing me when I saw this listed with this photo..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Train-/201291031076?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2edde16224

Reading the description, somewhat Unclouds the mystery, thing is when I clicked view other items, this comes up...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Train-/381163466722?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58bf1cefe2

And so I'm back to square 1..

A half witted/stupid attempt to sell whatever it is that is being sold.

The weathering was done by the same bloke who builds ships in bottles :sungum:

The listing does say "HASNT BEEN OUT OF BOX SINCE I PURCHASED IT"

Could be that it was renumbered and weathered by a previous owner, and not the seller.

There IS a 9f model named "C+++ 'Of The North". There is a "real" 9f that has been named in "preservation".

http://www.mremag.com/news/article/Hornby-railroad-named-class-9f-r3155/16642

I suspect the items for sale are 9f 2-10-0 locos....

Is this is someone who has searched for "C+++ 'Of The North" and found the details of the 2-8-2 P2.....

NO the details are from this page!

That's from one of Hornby's "trusted and preferred" stockists, no wonder they in trouble with model shops.

Unless of course Hornby supplied the text.

Maybe the seller doesn't really want to part with it. The minimum for a "reserve" is fifty quid, which is what some of the other sellers are asking anyway, including Gosturde. Some are asking for far more.....

NO CONTROLER

So how do you check that it actually works?

And don't get me started on the spacing.

Bernard

Actually states" THIS IS A STATICK LAYOUT ,so WILL NEED DISMANTLING and MAKEING GOOD on REBUILD"

So what's the point of it?

Cash only, no Paypal, against ebay rules, so reported. If I have to pay fees, so should everyone else!

Hmm. Refusing PayPal for collection-only items is a really good idea.

You receive your payment via PayPal, buyer picks up the item and takes it home.

Later the buyer raises a PayPal claim saying he hasn't received the item.

PayPal ask you to prove the buyer received the item.

You have no proof.

PayPal refund the buyer with your money.

So if I have to pay a million pounds to the government in tax. You will too?

Cash on collection is far better. Both are happy custom does not pay if item is wrong. You get money if all is good. Nobody is avoiding fees as COD is the only way ebay recommend using cash.

The Mary Shelley School of Modelling has another graduate:

"Please study the photos as the finish of this loco is a matter of personal taste"

If it's all the same, I'd rather not.......

It'd look the part on a model of the Woodham Brothers yard.
