From a well known retailer in Sheffield..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUSTRAINS-HO-3609-HAWKESBURY-C36-ROUNDTOP-LOCO/201154291545?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3Dd40de315d6b54fa1ab78344c4c47e997%26pid%3D100204%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D30%26sd%3D131275388433

A bit of a one off I'll grant you but this loco is available from Australia (from Austrains) at £202. Minus P+P but this wont be £90.

Actually this loco has been for sale for a while and quite honestly, as its what I model, is something I would like.. but not at that price.

OK its probably rare in the UK which may have influenced pricing but conversely the UK market is equally small, so perhaps a more realistic price may resulted in a sale well before now?

This it is a ridiculous price. Although Austrains have totally sold out there stock of C36 Class in Australia, does it mean one should capitalize on the product ? Considering at the moment on ebay Australia, there are a few C36 Class (round top fire box) locos for sale. OK, the sales are in the early stages at the moment, but they will probably go for the $300.00 - $350.00 (£178.00) mark at the end of sale, which is still $200.00 (£102.00) cheaper than the RoS price...

I don't know if this is a fair price, but this was the same limited run 1st Triang diesel I bought. I assumed they are somewhat rare and collectable. Unfortunately I naively loaned it and all my other models to the then Leytonstone Model Railway Club, while I went to college.  And of course when I came back, it had all gone.

Apparently the 'worth' varies with the shade of blue, but never to the ridiculous levels of 'our friend'.

Sometimes he makes a mistake and prices something reasonably, but this is so rare as to be 'eBay Madness' in itself....

Pardon?

I've always known that rumours of AC electrics being sales death are greatly exaggerated but I'm not so sure they are in so much demand as to ask the price of a small car, or a street of houses in Blaenau Ffestiniog, for a warmed up Hornby model.  I assume a misplaced decimal point rather than a clamouring for Executive liveried 86s...

Seems to be standard business practice of this seller, as has been noted several times before on these pages.  Set a silly price like this and everyone notices them. Like many others I looked at this, and then at his other items......

Maybe he doesn't actually have one for sale. . . . saves paying for advertising

His other items seem overpriced too (not as much as this one, but.....).
