I like the way he states 'I have no idea of the cost of international postage'!!! REALLY!!:o

I wonder if he/she has any idea how many people are likely to look at that listing and decide that he/she is a (insert expletives of your choice here) ?

Not madness but a little unrealistic starting price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PHOENIX-KIT-SR-MAUNSELL-59-x-9-CORR-COMP-1929-1932-DIAG2301-03-SRG-PAIR-BOGIES/143671631481?hash=item21737f1e79%3Ag%3ANk8AAOSwD3BeggHK&LH_Auction=1  This is the third time that he's put a load of them up at this starting price. One might have though that there's a reason for no bids three times over!

Whilst they were brilliant in their day (I've built many of them years ago to a pretty reasonable standard and still have a drawer full of unmade kits!). They aren't in my view worth more than £20 tops.

P.S. For another £5 one could buy one of Roxey's superb brass kits which are a joy to build. https://www.roxeymouldings.co.uk/product/378/4c153-7-compt-compo/

What does this seller not get? This is now the fourth time of listing with no reduction of starting price!

Actually something worth selling for once, not a load of old tat. maybe a little hopeful on the price though :)

Yes, about £100ish for the four would be more realistic (and I’d expect free postage as well) and I was considering making him an offer (surely he isn’t selling much at his price/quality level!). But...the lot is three identical composites plus a brake compo.  If I’m looking at buying a job lot of carriages at a high price I want a more balanced rake.  You'd need to be making up three or four separate trains to need that many compos. He’d stand a better chance of a sale if he listed them individually: also the lot price is too high for the casual buyer who might not “get” the composite issue,

Only 4? How many times would it need to be for 3 years?

I roughly put an offer in annually. Always gets rejected. It's been at least 3 years at this price.

The detail was disappointing in 2002

An aptly named seller.  I've viewed her stuff on eBay a few times and always thought she's got to be joking with the prices she asks.

There’s obviously something about Lincolnshire-based sellers of secondhand model railways that leads to unrealistic prices (Rocket Railways are also based there.)

Ha ha I guess someone reads this thread :)

Still too much for a body kit that needs enormous amounts of work to get to look right (you have to solder wire in etch lines to get the beading :o and no bogies etc.

When you renumber an engine, you should remember to do the numberboards:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bachmann-HO-Train-Locomotive-MKT-235-/154042360849

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bachmann-HO-Train-Locomotive-MKT-245-/154042327005

And 235 and 244 (both ex-Conrail units) were never repainted in that colourscheme - they were just ‘patched’. Apart from that ...

I've always wondered what a locomotive painted with a trowel looks like.

Mike.

There's a bloke around here who does domestic artificial turf installations and drives around in an old landrover, covered in his product.

I've often been tempted to get an old loco and apply flock and static grass to it...
