Hi Andy,

Thanks mate, I'm okay mate but I've lost my mojo this last week or two following that nasty dog bite, my whole routine went t*ts up and I'm worn out catching up and covering the time lost with hospital, walk-in's and doctors and now I have to arrange for this blood pressure monitor to be fitted-tested-and removed sometime next week AND I'm mad busy at work, anyway rant over.

I took some pic's on Wednesday night with John and they have just disappeared (well I've probably deleted them to be honest) so you will have to do with some flashback 12":12" stuff!

I selected this one especially for my Janner mate, the rest will follow....

I took this at Exeter when we went to Dawlish on holiday the year BEFORE the flood and guess what------when I was away my shed FLOODED up here, ironic or what. Still Dent may never have been done had that not happened eh!

Hi all,

Here are a few golden oldies mixed with a bit of 'almost' modern stuff and good modelling bits till I get back on track with Dent. Again the old ones are from misplaced negatives so locations are a bit vague.

My mate John being an HO American modeller and used to seeing trains run down the 'main street' seemingly thinks you need a steering wheel! I did say a while back he wasn't well. :jester:  :jester:  :jester: Hehehehe

Excellent selection - yes it is Swindon shed (or rather I'm about 99% sure it is Swindon).

Now for some 'unsures'

(Plus the one of the various units on shed which you haven't named but is Exeter St Davids - the last one in Part 2)

The pair of Brush Type 2 with the 8A09 headcode are standing in the Down Relief Line platform, Platform 8, at Reading

The next one down , the 3 car Thumper, is on the Up Line at Southcote Jcn,  Reading.

The Brush 4 with Z3 in the headcode and on mgr hoppers is standing facing in the Down direction on the Up Relief Line in Didcot station.

Morning Mike,

Lovely images, especially the steam ones of course! I don't recognise the tower in the one you think is Ayr, but it could easily have gone up after we moved South. The memory is flawed though! Would you mind if I copied that one as it shows ash and soot heaps like those I saw at Hurlford - despite the effective pits, there never seemed to be enough space, or maybe it was a lazy team shovelling it into wagons in the days when sixty plus locos were on shed!

Hope you get your mojo back soon but please don't overdo it mate!

Kind regards,

Jock.

Lovely Photos!

I especially like the ones from the Llangollen Railway.  Someday I'll have to get there . . .

Will

Agree on the Llangollen pics. Lovely, Mike.  Reminds me we've got Steam Steel Stars IV to look forward to this year.

Your image of the clock did not scale down very well as it was a bit eliptical because the photo was not taken on the centre line of the clock, there was also quite different lighting effects which when reducing the size made for poor pixelation and a fuzzy image.

I found another image on the good old internet and have reduced that.  For photos that you want to reduce in size, image quality is a must, the more pixels the better

This was the reduction from you original image (do not use) :nono:

P.S. It is interesting how the clock is recessed into the stonework.

8mm diameter is over the outside of the wooden surround, if you want it a different size let me know.

Some lovely photos there, Mike.

I know most of those places, but where in the country is Unsure?  :jester:  :jester:

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Hope your arm has recovered by now.

Jeff

Tut tut Jeff, what do teachers say? "must pay attention" well it's my leg mate not my arm! :jester:

That actually happened to me in hospital years ago after an operation, a doctor came with a clipboard saying "how is your leg sir" I replied "my leg is fine doctor but the bit you operated on still hurts a bit"! It was then he checked my name on the clipboard apologised and scurried off!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for that.

Do you know I was torn between Didcot, Reading and Westbury on those but completely stumped with Southcote Jnc. The Exeter shot was for Andy as he's a Plymouth lad and the unit had that on the blind. My memory is getting really bad on these oldies I'm afraid. If I send you about 10,000 can you answer them too Hahaha   :jester:  :jester:

Hi Mick,

Really appreciate that Mick, I will print a few out on photo paper and you will see the fruits of your labour soon.

By the way I passed your house earlier today! Well virtually anyway, Werrington Jnc. was featured in the Marsden No 32 Kings Cross-Newcastle DVD I was watching this morning. Did the windows rattle for you when the Deltic stormed past?!

They used to, you could hear them miles away before you saw them.  Sadly the field between us and the railway is now an industial estate with one of the largest Post Office sorting depots in the country blocking all sight and most sounds.

Hi Mike

You were lucky the quack made the error after the operation, some people are not so lucky. When I was a student nurse doing my bit in the operating theater we had a lady who nearly had the wrong hip operated on. I was at the bottom of the table keeping out the way and noticed the leg that was not going to be operated on was shorter and rotated, as happens when a hip breaks. I pointed this out to the theater sister who shouted stop to the surgeon as he was about to start cutting this lady's skin. She showed him what I had seen. He ordered an X-ray to be taken in the theater. On the one taken before the operation the radiographer had placed the label indicating right on the wrong side so the doctors were working with a back to front X-ray.
