Bert Grump ! - He looks grumpy enough!!

Hi Alan.I've only got round to putting lamps on my decent looking locos. The 43xx is surplus to my layouts requirements as it stands.

I wonder if we might see a re-tooled 43xx soon.....

I think the 'Manor' might come first.

That's what I like to hear Mike :D

Well this afternoon I've planted the Dapol signal and here it is in action with a pair of Castles in the shape of 5011 'Tintagel Castle' and 5049 'Earl of Plymouth'.

Another view of my favourite 45xx 4547 on a short empty wagon train.A special mention here to member 46444 who gave me the first three wagons behind it as a gift.Much appreciated and very well weathered too.The power of RMweb.I'm still waiting for my scenic mats to come to show you how I made the embankment in this photo.

A few more of Castle class 5049 'Earl of Plymouth' on the down Royal Duchy as it leans into the curve after going through the station. This service never stopped at Brent.I really need to sort that backscene out.Its a mess.

The nameplates are from Modelmaster and are more easier to cut than others and you therefore get less distortion.

Evening Robin,

Some great shots of the Castle but I really love the ones of 4547. Real shades of the Teign Valley Line in those photographs-something I hope to achieve in the future.

Brilliant modelling and thanks too for those kind comments.

I know what you mean about etched nameplates having a tendency to turn to buckled metal at the touch of a knife blade. Mentioning no names of course. ;)

Cheers,

Mark

Another loco not seen yet is 57xx class pannier 7760.This needs a new chassis as its worn out.Do Bachmann still sell chassis seperately ? The loco was based in the West Country with this livery but not post war and is preserved at Tyseley.

Shunting some horseboxes a while later whilst Hall class 4948 'Northwick Hall' comes through on an empty cattle van train.

Talking of 4948 here she is again .This area of the layout is where I need to do some rework especially a new backscene as its faded badly. This is also where I'm upgrading the scenics using meadow sheets from Green Scene and Noch/Heki static grasses and you can see the join where I've started. The greenhouse and shed are pure Scaledale. Also some yellow gorse which is an idea 'nicked' from seeing Spam's 'Treneglos' layout at shows. ;)

A limp wrist syndrome perhaps.Anyway I did a bit of weeding and then the missus gave me a b****cking because I was late with the down 10:30 Limited. :jester:

I think the King would struggle with my rake of Comet coaches.

Anything is possible when we make it up as we go along. If anyone wants a fix of a King and a rake of centenaries have a look here at Barry Ten's blog.Absolutely superb.

Peter Hazell is a very busy man, but his head is certainly turned during his post round as the down 'Limited' races over the rooftops.

I wasn't happy with my tension lock couplings on this rake as I felt the gangways were too far apart. As its a fixed rake in an order I've soldered wire hooks like Tony Wright favours and it looks much better. You just need to judge the length of wire before bending it.I used .70mm wire.I need to paint them now.

Castle class 5011 'Tintagel Castle' on duty after a King failed at Newton Abbot and its way too early too. :mosking:

More to come....
