Jim’s “out and about with GBRf” thread

More nice pictures Jim. I especially like the pictures from Shildon. Great to see Green Arrow again - such a shame to see it n such a polished state instead of out on the main line doing what it is supposed to do.

68s look very 'angry'. However, having never met one yet I could be wrong.

Thanks for the Donny sunset Jim; the sky over north Notts and south Yorkshire last evening, for about 20 minutes, was ever changing and very spectacular. Don't ofetn get 'spectacular' at Donny :nono:

That thumper looks to have a decent paint job, but why the stupid colour scheme and headlight?

Any discussion of colour always reminds me of a visit to Warley one year.

I was absorbed in watching a succession of ECML expresses on the Stoke Summit layout.

A chap near to me who was firing off photographs asked the guys if they had any Deltics.

The helpful reply was, "Yes we have a Deltic we can send one out for you if you like, what colour do you want."

Some wag in the crowd shouted, "The purple one" whereupon they produced it.

As always very nice pictures Jim.

Interesting to see you with 37603 and 37608 partnered on a test train.

I'm assuming that 603 was on hire to Europhenix/ROG or that 608 was on hire to DRS.

Since 608 and 611 left DRS for Europhenix I think this is the first time a DRS liveried 37 and plain blue Europhenix 37 have been partnered together on a train.

Since Colas operate the test trains I'd wager it's both DRS and Europhoenix hiring locos to Colas. As far as I'm aware DRS have never operated test trains, their 37s were on hire to Serco, then DB, now Colas. Here's hoping the test train 37s end up in the same livery as 37800 and 37884!

I can't believe how different Banbury is looking now Jim, is it a sufficient enough change to cause you to have to relearn it?

Jo
