I have continued with painting sleepers, platforms 3 and 4 completed along with the central siding between them.

Normal train services have resumed but owing to the PW work taking so long they have been diverted to the Midland station or the Great Central one. DMUs to and from Leeds and Manchester were noted by our PW foreman running on the mainline.

I use to knock about with Robbie (vocals) and Steve (keyboard) when I was stationed in Colchester at the time they were forming the band. Gary (guitar) used to be married to a lovely lady, he could still be. Steve was my bestman when I married Mrs M Mk1. Good times.

Not going then. :beee:

No1 son is a member of the BRPS, so gets two free trips a year on the Bodmin & Wenford. As we're suffering wall to wall blue skies here at the moment, I might just take him to B&W this weekend.

I can take lots of pics of trees if you need them.

Hi Steve

I think it is from the Coronation Scott set, it has a round toilet window.

I thought they didn't have toilets in Coronation Street, let alone round windows in them......

Oh.

Ah.

Oops.

Your from up north, isn't the outside loo at the bottom of the garden back yard to the left of the pigeon loft. :scratchhead: :scratchhead:

Edit be careful not to trip over the whippet if you need to go after dark.

Early electrics. Very nice.

I can't tell one AL from another in a moving shot, but they're all great looking. And it's odd seeing such a thing on an unfitted goods train.

You have to remember that all the early 25kV locos were designed as mixed traffic so could be put on the front of almost anything.

Painting of the sleepers continues, the platforms are all done. A large part of the GNR side of the throat has been done, so the PW gang is now well past the halfway mark.

Next question do I ballast the platform tracks before the platforms are in place or platforms first?

Out on the mainline were seen the York express DMU and the Transpennine train. Later on some of the last steam hauled commuter trains to Barnsley and Doncaster were seen being hauled by ex LMS class 4 tanks.

I have also been busy watching more modern image porn.

I am sure one of the two car DMUs is a single Derby lightweight hauling a DTC. The exhaust and brake van are at the wrong end for a normal 2 car train.

Good video find Clive, looks around 1965/66 I reckon, with blue/grey coaching stock still the exception. Agree about the single unit & trailer.

Always looks odd to me seeing an AL1-AL6 on a Class 9 freight.

And pity the guard in the brake van on that long train of Carflats doing about 75mph near the end of the film!

Platforms.....easier to ballast after they are stuck down imho, of course if you want them to stay removable, maybe not.... :jester:

Well that is that finished. I say finished, I still have the two loco area to do.  The steam loco yard needs an ash pit and the diesel stabling point requires some form of hard standing at the fuel points. While I ponder how I am going to do it i will have a another listed to

I think you're right about the single-car Derby Lightweight, Clive; didn't they work the Buckingham- Banbury service in latter days?

Hi Brian

They were used on the Verney Junction to Banbury line, aka the Buckingham branch when new. There was a period from the closure of the branch (1964 for passenger traffic) and the withdrawal of the single cars (1967). I have seen photos of the pair working together on the Beltchley to Bedford section. I think they were employed for a short time on the Bedford services which would fit with the fliming as the southern section of the LNWR mainline was opened fully for electric trains until April 1966.

Yo Chris

How is my fault, you big enough to lead yourself astray.

I am too much of skinflint these days with music, Youtube and Spotify are my friends.

One of the problems with living in the middle of nowhere Lincolnshire is that I need a good excuse to tell Mrs M I am spending a night in the smoke to see five young ladies from Japan.

Or you could save your ears from a bashing and spend the money on a proper Loco mate, hahah. :sungum:
