Lovely.  Burnham - by then without a railway but still boasting most of its very long platform - was on my 'patch' in the late 1970s and I used to visit most weeks to deliver publicity material to a (then) very pro-rail tourist travel agency which did quite well in terms of ticket sales.  In fact it probably took more revenue than Burnham station had managed in fares in most weeks.

God. that would be some snow drift, if it got that deep, running trains wouldn't be high on anybody's 'to-do' list.

 

Sighting requirement related to the footbridge, I'd think.

Definitely a sighting requirement, and certainly for the footbridge. There was also an overbridge just to the south of the station, where the GWR Cheddar Valley line crossed the S&D, so the height of the signal may also be related to that.

The Hornby coaches match. They are to diagram 340, same as the Hemyock coaches.

Don't think so, Brian...Christmas list popped up the chimney in November asked for an Adams Radial from Margate....
