I didn't really work on Central after leaving Control in 1973, moving to SED. My subsequent role on NSE SC 1986-9 was effectively at Waterloo, with site meetings and discussions on location, typically with AMs and others. A bit remote, really.

The Hungarians have a better version of Barry scrapyard. In that they just closed the shed full of locomotives and opened it as a museum. Later moving the historic items there as well.
