  1. Bakewell Street has gone - and is now called Castlebank Sidings - but the 7mm itch does need the occasional scratch..here's a Dapol van with a bit of weathering....its needs a flat finish but otherwise is done...at least on one side and end...
  2. Indeed so did mine...the apparent delivery of mail order pasties did cause some minor domestic "interest" here is all I'll say.......
  3. I went along today and very much enjoyed the 3 hours I had there. I caught up with a few acquaintances, relieved Mr Parker of a very nice shortbread biscuit, had a long chat to David Wright about Das modelling and enjoyed a large number of the layouts. The day was enhanced by easy free parking, some very helpful Museum staff and vounteers, and short waits for catering. I suspect there were a few too many "box shifters" but the numbers seemed good and there were busy trade stands. Some of my. photos will follow on... Chris H
  4. I've uploaded a number of images of 44422 to a Flickr Album. I was after weathering references and I think this was pretty useful. Click on the photo: Chris H
  5. No contacts in the Bomb squad then Rob? Just a tiny explosion would have worked surely?
  6. A few more local 66s from yesterday 4L33 Boxes from Wentloog to London Gateway Late running 6C68 Avonmouth to Whatley Engineers Train to Wales from Westbury 6A04
  7. 66165 on late clays at Filton 22 10 23 6V73 - Bescot to Exeter
  8. Hi - the layout album is here - click on the photo: Trackplan is visible here - 400mm x 1500mm plus 250mm x 400mm off stage. Peo Large radius points... Chris H
  9. .....as there was no diesel on the back.......which might be an issue later in the journey....just saying..
  10. Thanks - there was a period of very slow running prior to the final stall....
  11. I was told on Saturday about a steam loco that had "wheel slipped and stalled". It did not get going again until a diesel helper arrived and attached to rear of train. What would actually cause that? The train was on a bank and was about 11 coaches so gradient and load related no doubt but what happens in a "stall"? Chris H
  12. Cumbrian Coast Express - water stop for British India Line. Only thing she could see would be a coach I think.
  13. Andy - that looks great - obviously you've made major progress since the summer. I think the simple presentation of fascia and (accidental) neutral back scene is spot on and enhances but does not distract from the original masterpiece. Chris H
  14. Very sorry to have missed this great show - a combination of a very late return home at 0130 on Sunday from a badly delayed railtour and misplaced bank cards - now found - but obviously only after I'd reported them lost after a forensic but fruitless search at home...meant a 7am drive down was impractical - a great shame as there were many layouts and friends I wanted to see. If all goes well I'm part of an operating team for a layout next year so fingers crossed.. Chris
  15. Tempted after seeing a Sellafield version in the flesh yesterday...
  16. The cab certainly had a full crew.....many eyes and all that...
  17. I assume this was treated as a test train as well as passenger services started shortly afterwards..
  18. That makes sense - thank you and also to 6990 WS - there were lots of very frustrated folk at Carlisle trying to get to Newcastle etc. for whom there was no rail replacement bus as Northern had issued a "do not travel" notice
  19. Quick photos at Carlisle on Saturday. I believe the headcode was 6Z78 but I can't find it on any of the websites such as RTT or Railcam
