  1. If chipboard is so bad in 'horizontal configurations, why is it used extensively for flooring?
  2. A real bit of nostalgia, all those Ford Anglias and Minis. Particularly liked the idea for the roll on,roll off ferry, turn the whole deck 180 deg,
  3. Neither do I, thought it was the Warley thread. Oh wait a minute, it's the dreaded thread drift. Forum equivalent of Japanese knot weed.
  4. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for asking the question. I will follow this thread with interest.
  5. I'm having a clear out prior to a house move, and I've come across some magazine articles given to me by a friend many moons ago. I was going to bin them but wondered if they might be of use to anyone. They all appear to be drawn to scale, and have supporting background info I'll try to summarise them: 16xx pannier - basic dimensions only 19xx pannier - basic dimensions only 57xx & 8750 pannier - no dimensions GWR moguls - no dimensions Granges & Manors - no dimensions GWR 57ft bow end stock - basic dimensions only GWR coach door & window details GWR siphon G wide type - basic dimensions only GWR brake vans - 1888-1950 - basic dimensions and info on allocation from new Please pm me if interested.
  6. Came across this thread while researching some photos I'm scanning. Not quite the Wenford Bridge line but evidence that D2129 spent time at Wadebridge .
  7. Is that your feet in the shoes in the 1st photo???
  8. I've just been browsing UK Steam 2018 tours, and came across the Tornado 10th anniversary luxury tour. It's basically a 2 week tour from one end of the country to the other and back again, a glorified Great Britain tour and at a glorified price, well into 5 figures. Who finds the money to go on that sort of tour? I've just spent 2 days debating whether to spend 60 quid on some second hand n gauge coaches on ebay.

    EBay madness

Or 15.81 per month for 12 months???
  10. So the basic laptop/tablet/phone is getting smaller, but bags to carry them around in are getting bigger because of all the accessories you need to keep them running
  11. I always thought the idea of a train shed was to provide protection from the weather for passengers (or does the sun always shine in Tralee),
  12. Depends on how stormy the discussion gets,

    New announcement?

With the new boxes they're using there'll be plenty of 'paddying'.
  14. Regular customers getting peed off by special offers not being available to them surely happens all the time. How many times do you see, for instance, TV/broadband companies promoting special offers to attract new customers, and somewhere in the small print you find "Offer applies to new customers only" or "Offer not available to existing customers",
  15. I may be wrong on this but I think one of the original reasons for the creation of the B&W was to carry sand from the river at Wadebridge up the line to local farms. I seem to remember that at one time trains would stop alongside the nearest convenient field to unload. Apologies for drifting even further off topic.
  16. Thanks for all the replies. At least I know what to look for now.
  17. According to a recent local tv news report, our national park authority (Dartmoor) is considering banning drones within the park due to a few irresponsible idiots flying too close to cars and livestock, again the few spoiling the enjoyment of the sensible majority.
  18. SWMBO has been watching them for the last month, Edited to overcome effects of big finger syndrome,
  19. Which version of the Good Book did you find that in??
  20. Well I've tried using the Search option and can't find anything relevant so apologies if I'm covering old ground. I've just been looking at a listing on Ebay, and in the description it states the model has an early can motor. The way it is worded makes it sound as though this is/might be a disadvantage. What problems are there with can motors, and what alternatives should I look for.
  21. At least that explains why a stowage van had the T suffix. I know it had to be something other than S to differentiate from sorting van, but I wondered how it came to be T.
  22. Sorry I can't offer any advice but I shall be watching this thread with interest as I have a similar prohect in mind.
