  1. Don't you get statements from your card provider?
  2. They are arriving on the beaches every day and we refuse to let them work.
  3. In terms of the national finances the annual spend on HS2 is trivial. That total figure that is always the headline is over something more than a 20 year period half of it already in the past. IMHO its reached a point now where significant savings are impossible. But the scope for increasing cost and time is more or less infinite.
  4. Hi Hayfield, The two you just got are definitely Mark 1, which were the best IMHO. I had one at the very beginning and when I went overseas I left it behind and never saw it again. Although I did recover and still use some of the track made with it. On my return I had to settle for a Mk3. The JBS ones were, I think Mk2 or 2a, but I don't think I have ever seen one.
  5. Look at the video where you can see it better than the still photo. There isn't a seperate bar but there are two bolts, one for each position, built into the sliding Z plate, these bolts create a lock independent of the roller.
  6. So measured 25.2 mm over the valances, a scale 10 ft, or 10% overwidth. Which shows up the problems of a scale track gauge with overwidth wheels. Underscale track has been swopped for overscale locos.
  7. In this regard there is nothing different about a double slip as against any other track section. Most DC layouts will need switching so that routes are dfed from the correct controller. Its impossible to give any simple answer as the design will differ for every layout and the specific control philosophy wanted.
  8. And the whole premise is wrong, delays won't reduce costs, postpone a bit and increase a lot.
  9. OK, Signals first. Signals 22, 23, 24. With just 3 platforms more likely the 3 arms than one with Route indicator unless there is a clearance/sighting problem. These signals should have subsidiary arms (call ons) to allow running into an occupied platform. Signal 7, Alternative is OK, probably better as you need enough room between signal 2 and signal 7 for the longest consist likely to be shunting. Signals 1, 3 ,5. There is no need for shunt signals here as the main arms can be cleared for shunt moves up to 7 at stop. So the shunt arms add nothing. (NB. This from basics, not related to your specific prototype and/or date, sometimes they were provided). Gantry alternative depending on sighting, avoid if possible. Facing point locks. Double slip ends worked by one lever as you have them then all 4 blades are tied together and one FPL will effectively lock all 4. But in this case you only need install one on the facing from the up line side, likely to be tricky fitting a lock bar in for that one, better to assume its been track circuited so not needing any lock bars. Then really you should change your drawing symbols to show the bolts, as it is you have drawn the bars and not the bolts. The FPL no 9 for 10 points for Down moves does require to lock all 4 blades, its dependent on the mechanical design of the linkages whether this would need two actual bolts or manage with one. Its over 60 years now since I worked on mechanical stuff and that detail I don't remember! Hope this helps a bit. Can't find anyway to delete the Youtube?
  10. And H0 will always make such a truck more difficult than 00 because there will bew even less space between the wheelsets and the frames for any sideplay.
  11. Why can't you all just help the OP with his DC wiring and leave out all the suggestions to use DCC or Radio or whatever that will make the problem go away in exchange for bigger problems. This scenario is taylor made for the traditional cab control where you can select the required controller for each section, and its really just the sections in the station that need the selection, the running lies outside the station can just stay on their designated controllers. Three way switches are good but there is one snag thay can be a problem. ie if switching from the left hand position to the right hand position you have to pass through the centre position and if that controller is in use your train may jerk. Having a 4 way with an off does not help so its worth putting a simple on'off switch in series with the 3 way so you can avoid this scenario. And for DCB, The mistake here was not using Common Return, it was just designing the wiring badly. Wiring needs to be designed with logic, not intuition. I have used Common return with complex layouts with 4 and more controllers without problems. Its just straighforward logic and it does halve the amount of wiring to the switches.
  12. More detail of the aftermath here, http://www.nigeltout.com/html/crash-test-old-dalby.html
  13. What evidence do you have for that scale? I have seen similar gifts from Bombardier when I worked for a purchaser of trains and those were 1:87.
  14. Hornby themselves on the website suggest that you check that the app works on your phone/tablet before buying the decoders and I certainly intend to follow that advice. The release date is presumably the date the app will be released as if not then they could release the decoders now.
  15. Some relevant info here, http://www.norgrove.me.uk/buckeye.htm
  16. Should be Grovenor, NOT Grosvenor (Its an anagram). The article is here, http://www.norgrove.me.uk/points.html
  17. There is no need for any distants on your plan unless you assume that the next signalbox is very close.
  18. If you have the drawings/data for the turnouts used by the railway you are modelling I would see it as much better to spend a bit of time with 'Templot' and set up a custom template to give exactly as you want it. Its practically as simple to build on a printed plan as in an expensive fast Tracks jig. Templot is customisable for every detail.
  19. When I looked some appeared to be offering immediate delivery.
  20. HM7000 decoders do appear to be on sale at Amazon before Hornby have released them.
  21. Did you use the MERG 'contact us' option at the bottom of our webpages? I ask because I have repied to every such message recieved. So it may have got lost somewhere, try asking again if you wish.
  22. Looks good, and you have the stove position correct on the new one.
  23. But those of us who do model with buffer contact, eg in P4 and EM, are very thankful for the fad of providing sprung buffers on 00 models as it saves us a job on conversion, and aftermarket sprung buffers can be pricy and fiddly. So please don't ask them to stop fitting them.
  24. Plenty of info in Google, eg. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiwsbT8iIv9AhURS8AKHU2ZB4EQFnoECA0QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Fmark_vogel%2Falbums%2F72157617271169939%2F&usg=AOvVaw2WeAmNQ2upg2tGljcRuVI0
