  1. I suspect that the out of the demand of the 3 this was probably the weakest in pre-sales. Interesting that EM with it's extra deflectors is now a Steam and Sound exclusive.
  2. If someone has the time and a 2023 Catalogue it would be good to see what's been chopped e.g. Macaw and potentially the P2 Steam and Sound model
  3. Wait... ...no Flying Scotsman! They really are listening to modellers requests. Still there's plenty of time left in the year... 🤣
  4. Personally it feels like this may actually be more realistic and achievable so I welcome this change of tack as opposed to a huge list of stuff we may not see for several years. Some other welcome changes that I hope continue: Big name preserved locos like Black Prince and Mayflower produced as a priority Era 1 locos and stock being split from train packs Modern block train stock being sold in larger packs (TTA) Strong emphasis on more affordable Railroad models. No one else fulfils this area of the market that exists to grow the hobby. No blanket increases i.e. if these existing toolings were reintroduced in 2023 I wouldn't expect the prices to have been lower in the majority of cases. In many ways I do think they are answering modellers requests.
  5. Very sad news. I vividly remember visiting the one of the old shops as a boy some 25 years ago or so. My heartfelt thoughts are with all the employees and owners. Since coming back to hobby in 2020 I honestly haven't bought a lot from them compared to others and I imagine my reasoning is probably similar to others (no Bachmann or Hornby new releases), so in some ways I'm not as shocked as some but nevertheless the service for the things I have purchased has been 1st class. I do try to support several shops by spreading my orders around and with the recent revival of Hornby orders I would probably have put in a 2024 range order. The timing does feel a little odd with the green shoots of several popular originals products getting ready for a presumably more profitable re-release and the recent acquisition of the American retailer. I suspect this has been a fairly recent decision and pre-orders and the like have been taken in the best of faith. I am sure many overseas customers will mourn the loss of the innovative trunk service. Credit to them for having an orderly closure. This very much is closing on their own terms and is a real sign of respect to customers in terms of how this appears to be being managed.
  6. That is the case however it is in terms of the 1980's West Highland amongst other rail tours and preserved lines it ventured. It was also in the livery for a long period of time unlike other spoof liveries and it very nearly wasn't spoof by a matter of a year or two. Yes they did seem to be over produced, however I would strongly suspect the K1 in green would sell very well on the basis that it spent a long time on the popularly modeled west highland line, did a number of railtours during the now popular BR Blue and Large Logo era and spent time on persevered railways as well as spending well over a decade in the livery.
  7. Having watched this thread for a while I wanted to add my thoughts. I have 3 sound fitted 37's (2 factory, one with chip and speaker afterwards from Accurascale), 1 class 92 (factory sound fitted) and 1 class 55 (factory sound fitted). Non of these have had issues apart from my first 37 but even then this has only happened when I didn't leave it on the layout for 30 seconds or so and only cut out once when starting up so I'm giving that one a pass as the stay alive was likely still charging. What I will say is that while on the face of it there appears to be an issue that is larger than other models, the runs of these have been massive in comparison to other contemporary models i.e. 10's of 1000's when most don't break through 5000. In addition, I would not be at all surprised that the class 37 production is more skewed towards DCC sound than previous release we have been used to, especially when many have done what I have done and purchased a DCC ready version and effectively made this to the same spec as a factory fitted version. This therefore does create a large sample size and more numerical failures are likely and those that have a problem are likely to voice them which is fair enough. 10 voices here vs 1 voice elsewhere may still be within the same proportion is the point I am trying to make. All that being said there have been a fair few instances where other factory or aftermarket installations have been completely fine on people's layouts and therefore they are rightly trying to resolve the problem as all the others work fine and therefore the class 37 is the outlier. From what has been said it would appear that ESU are flying a little closer to the sun with the speaker resistances being 2.66Ohms and therefore the tolerances demanded from chips/the circuit board will be a fair bit tighter than if these were 4Ohm minimum if nothing were done to the design of the board to compensate, though if they have then it the point becomes mute. Either way ESU, who I hope we can all respect as a top of their game DCC manufacturer, have put their name to it. I think we should do well to remember that Accurascale is only a year or two into releasing it's locomotives into the wild. They need this feedback via their support channels. It's all well and good posting on here and to their credit they do try to engage but the solid numbers will be from the support tickets raised. Even if it's just to say, hey I've had an issue and I've turned the speaker down to compensate. No need to do anything but want this logged. Therefore they (and ESU) can improve for future models. They have not given me any doubt they are looking to continually improve and the Deltic v2 is a good example of this listening to feedback. If you are having an issue that is still not resolvable then you would be within your rights to return it as faulty for a refund having first gone through the support channel to try and resolve on the basis that all other models appear to work and your using a reasonable controller setup as they are still under warranty. Those who are having issues, you do have my sympathy, as when these work they are the finest models I have in my collection.
  8. Same here. For the last year or so I have asked on the stand at MRS and Warley for the K1 in green. Carl was previously unaware of this livery and seemed very interested in this. I also spoke with the coronation coaches designer about the rebuilt observation coach and suggested there were very much looking at the rebuilt version though I would also like this in maroon before rebuilding. Green and cream Mk1's and WCRC (shortly to be released) are the domain of Bachmann though the green and cream coaches can go for silly money.
  9. Had this email from Locomotion as part of the day 12 of the 12 Day's of Locomotion Models. New Exclusive OO-Gauge Model Announcement: Locomotion Models is pleased to announce the re-release of one of our most popular models. English Electric DP1 Two versions of this model will be available. The first representing DP1 in the condition it was in service on the East Coast Main Line, and the other accurately portraying the preserved condition of the locomotive as seen as part of the National Collection. These exclusive OO-gauge models are being produced by Bachmann. Both DCC Ready and Sound Fitted versions will be available at £199.95 and £299.95 respectively and can be reserved on our website with a £30 deposit today. An interesting announcement in the context of the Hornby Dublo version but understandable in wanting to get the most out of the tooling though it would be assumed that Hornby did get access for their model. I didn't get the Bachmann iteration as I wasn't in the hobby and I've pre-ordered a Hornby example and currently don't plan to switch as with sound the price difference isn't all that much once retailer discount is taken into account and the metal body and working fans are a nice extra.
  10. I mean I would have hoped (but never believed) they ordered more light bars with the corrected capacitor so at the very least you could upgrade. It'll have to be a DIY solution for me.
  11. Noticed these have slipped again to Q2/3 2024. Perpetually 3 quarters away - still they'll arrive when they'll arrive. Just glad they are getting done.

    Big Bertha

I think it's very positive and does suggest they are trying to learn and listen to feedback.
  13. Is there a way you could turn the board to make the gradient flat(er)?
  14. Trying to think of another charity loco...
  15. Anyone successfully removed the C53 body on this version i.e. with the next 18 socket? I'm having tremendous trouble and feels like I'm using more force than I'm comfortable with. Removed the cow catchers and couplings and the 4 screws obviously.
  16. Would have loved to see a Type IV Cockerill i.e. Lucie from the NYMR Photo from https://www.embsayboltonabbeyrailway.org.uk/aboutus/piglets-lucie-john-cockerill-of-1890-vertical-boilered-steam-locomotive
  17. As always brilliant after sales support from Rapido! This kind of support is why I will gladly buy from you again and again.
  18. Sorry - you are quite right. I'll edit that out as I really meant to try and give them the benefit of the doubt going by my first sentence.
  19. I wouldn't be that surprised if they were supposed to be produced didn't end up in the box but then Rapdio would be in their rights to go back to the factory and then send these out as goodwill to anyone who wants them. Wouldn't be unprecedented and they have generally been very good for holding their hands up in the past.
  20. They normally hold back on publishing it until the reveal (notwithstanding this years faux par), though whether that still applies with the new announcement model remains to be seen. I'm expecting a just a couple of new tooling announcements and some reliveries and strong emphasis on what is due into stock soon looking at existing deco samples to enable them to shift towards 'termly' announcements (I saw termly as who knows what frequency they will be). I would anticipate the following announcement will tie in with the Model World Live event at the back end of April, especially as this ties in well with the other 'Hornby' brands.
  21. Completely agree. Wide range of liveries too and lasted well into the transition era. I maintain that Scottish sells well with it's more manageable realistic train size.
  22. Expected in the new year. Already in production. I seem to remember them saying the tampo printing was quite simple so relatively quick production turnaround.
  23. A Warley update is that these are expected early in the new year.
  24. To help I spoke with the designer at Warley. The final model was reconfirmed to have working fans. It will weigh around 1kg total. All the design is complete, just waiting for EP's which may well be in time for MRS 2024 with a view to release end of next year i.e. Christmas 2024 but obviously this could easily slide. They also said that flange squeal would be automatic but using an IR/optical light senor system (the same that is being used for the stem and smoke generator models) rather than hall sensors as per Accurascale class 37.
