  1. Robert, glad my weathering is OK I like the 6 wheeler (and so does her indoors!) Good photos of the roof details - as you say not often you see any. I have some photos of the Gresley stock on the NYMR which I will try and upload from my old computer - they have a bit of roof detail The ink wash does help to get detail to stand out - especially doors etc barry
  2. Thats it 2012 I have had enough of this year - roll on 2013!

no problem - just have to last out the next 3 weeks (fingers crossed) and hopefully the plumber will arrive soon!!!

  3. Being Em is a bit of a time extender - but it does seem to "eat" stock - one of the pictures show 2 CoBos on a "Condor" - it looks tiny! Some of the locos are in my gallery as Mike asked me to weather them = its a great honour as I know some of the very, very good modellers building various bits for the layout - locos, coaches, signals, building and - not least - signals barry
  4. off to Cumbria for a day!

  9. Christmas carols already? its 3 weeks away !!

  10. obviously some people have lots of money BUT the simple law of cash means if you buy too high eventually you tend to run out of money, There are a number of over-priced items on ebay which have been on offer for a year or so - so someone has a lot of money locked into things people won't buy at an inflated price. Interestingly though the same sellers sell other items for much lower than what woudl be see seen as a true market price elsewhere.......
  11. <Best contact them then I suppose!> yep they are pretty quick at responding at the moment
  12. Quick work! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R3090-THOMPSON-01-LOCOMOTIVE-63789-WEATHERED-DCC-READY-/170948147393?_trksid=p5197.m1998&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D17%26meid%3D3820936653617164482%26pid%3D100017%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D200853380058%26 £111.50 from rails - add some weathering and there you go £195.00 - I'm not charging enough for weathering methinks(!)
  13. flooded garden now = skating rink

  18. more weathering :-))

  19. If ever I find the person who said we were going to have a drought in the UK this year I can send them a bill for cleaning my clothes from Warley - I have been soaked by various vehicles over two days so far - just hope today is better!
  20. so its easier to do a Club photo display than a display of locos --- think again !!!!

  21. I note an NCB blue wagon with the later NCB yellow lettering... didn't see many of those in Horden! Good details though!
  22. Davemakes sense for you to be happy running the layout in dc mode at Warley. I use Digitrax - and a collegue uses a Zephyr (which has a big control knob on it) and handsets which also have knobs and dial ups for loco numbers. My Digitrax decoders will work with dc - indeed fitting one to a rtr loco turned it into being dc controllable. BUT its horses for courses -try as many systems as you can - and also look at the decoders you use - the prime ones may be more expensive but seem to work so much better. See you at Warley ( and Bob H is there) Barry
  23. Leeds trolleybus plan = disaster waiting to happen!

      Horsetan

Can't be any more disastrous than trams in Edinburgh!

  24. Apologies - missed out a couple of important bits: 1 Try to get good quality colour photos of the loco/stock you are weathering - this helps 2 Tap off surplus powder into a large box ( I use an O gauge coach kit lid) - that way you can re-use powder - if you think Yorkies are tight with dosh then Durham lads after 25 years in Yorks can really show how to be tight(!) And please - try to avoid bright colours - it is rare to see these in real life - most of the locos I can remember (Q6, J27, WD) were greasy and never cleaned by West Hartlepool Shed - but didn't have anything bright in colour on them apart from wheel treads) Hope this helps
  25. A response from Hornby ( I take it others have had similar?) send it back for assessment. ...... wonder if I can deliver it at Warley and save postage?
