Not supposed to do that before dusk I think it is. I'd have phoned the Fire Brigade suggesting that the next door house was on fire.

You have my sympathy 'nut. I had 2 out at the same time last year, I couldn't get out of bed for more than a couple of hours a time for about a week

The anaesthetic is now mostly worn off and I did managed to eat a piece of salmon for tea, wondering what other soft things I can eat when I really fancy a bag of pork scratchings and some toffee.

      BlueLightning

Well I wish I could help with that but other than soup I can't remember what I ate while I recovered.

  6. The minimum space O gauge project seems to be starting well... board 1 almost complete with my first attempt at a swivelling sector plate...

    1. Metr0Land

      Metr0Land

Board 1? How minimum is minimum? Good luck anyway it's always better to be doing something.

At the moment the plan is to be two boards totalling about 7ft x 18" but that may change...

  7. So my "little project" on a 3ft spare board is now 7ft on two boards... why don't I just give up and make it 12ft so it's no longer a little project

  9. Hmmm spare board that was never used, 3ft x 18". Too small for a project?

ok I remeasured and it's 31.5" x 16", apologies... now, N is an obvious option, don't have American HO, but have just sound fitted my O gauge Dapol 08... could I really satisfy myself in O in that space though? Maybe the Setrack O gauge points may come in handy?

    3. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

Hmm 15" each for a setrack point makes 30" for a crossover... doesn't give a lot of fun on a 31.5" board.

Had shingles a year ago and it was over my scalp and forehead, luckily read up that shingles on the head carries risks to the eyes and went to the GP who gave me eye treatment

  13. Is there a secret to de-cluttering? How do you throw things away knowing for sure you aren't going to need them in a couple of weeks time?

Your wife/mother will give you 'advice' on what you don't need, and the last time you used said item.....

    3. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

well I think I can clear some clutter by making a layout but don't know what shape to make, either a 4ft square, a 5ft x 4ft L shape, or a 6ft 6 x 4ft U shape, out of the same 3 boards to create an N gauge tram layout

Just do what the Senior Female Person-in-Charge instructs you to do, do it with a smile and gratitude.

  14. I think the reason I hate christmas so much is that you're bombarded with it from September onwards and I just get fed up with it, especially all the commercialism that has nothing to do with why Christmas exists.

The roads clogged up by people going into town or other retail outlets desperately trying to find things that they could/ should have bought online and had delivered. Grr...

  15. Fresh as the moment when the lightbulb went pop... anyone got a candle?

  16. Dilemma... faithfully reproduce the track plan but have to extend the baseboards by 2 inches width, or drop one of three sidings and fit in the boards I have already made?

    2. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

That's my idea if I go for it, Mr Duck ... a length of 1" square timber along the front and back to make everything fit. Damn that third siding, if I add a kickback siding along the front of the fiddle yard board and blend that into the scenic I could do without the third siding...

That's 'off the board thinking' dear nut.

    4. cromptonnut

      cromptonnut

Given that it's not an 'exact reproduction' of the prototype as such I could get away with losing that siding I suppose?

Yep, there's always some nutjob waiting to complain about something - one of my colleagues had a complaint that it was raining and if the bus had arrived on time not 3 minutes late it might not have been raining when she got off. I kid you not :-/

Keep a very watchful eye out! UK Mail just delivered here and left goods in porch. Two adults and a dog on same floor did not hear either door knock or our loud bell. Instructions on box said leave with neighbour if no answer but a large red box still left in full view in our porch.
