EBay madness

Wrong it may be, but beneath that dodgy viaduct thing there lurks what looks suspiciously like a die-cast model of a Series IIa or IIb Forward Control Land Rover. Given the rarity of the prototype, I'm amazed that such a thing exists.

Our friend has excelled himself with this, which doesn't even have a motor. And postage to me in Froggy France would be £300!

Blimey, I wouldn't pay that for a real one. Mind you, the Australians got the two-stroke diesel working better than Metrovick did in the Co-Bo :D.

Your suspicions are correct.

Goodness! I may have to track one of those down as a reminder of my old FC. I particularly like the one on the right of the third row down which appears to have the same dodgy, made-up camo paint job and incorrect 7.50-16 tyres that mine came with :D.

Edit: And having now looked, I see there are loads of them on Ebay. Corgi/Husky must have sold a lot more of them tha Land-Rover ever did :D. I think I feel an impulse buy coming on.

Yep...Husky. I even remember playing with my brothers one of these! :)

(That and the Matchbox Stalwart 6-wheel amphibious truck, though the model didn't float! ;) )

I must have one lurking somewhere!

Die-cast manufacturers have always had a liking for the exotic and rare rather than the mundane (and useful). I have never been able to understand why they have such an aversion to railway modelling scales either, which surely would increase sales?! The 'got to fit the box' mentality?

Apparently Lesney/Matchbox would even distort the dimensions to make them "look right" (no they don't!)

He's also got this Lima Deltic for a starting price of £65 + p/p - don't get outbid guys :stinker:

Nah - I'm going for one of the other four

I do wonder at the logic of some sellers that list similar items to all finish at about the same time.

Cheers,

Mick

As Mick says...some more items as well...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Permanent-Way-Track-Engineering-Static-Models-/281198708753?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4178bfc811

......UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_......

But what part of a car is this....

(Must be wrongly filed... ;) )

This is a nice mixture of parts...

Horby Dublo crane.

Meccano Type Hook.

Tri-ang Hornby Crane relieving trucks.

Later Hornby (Tri-ang Hornby) Crane base with a track section, and relieving trucks.

Almost worth it for parts...if the paint had stayed in the tins!

The useful bits - I use the term loosely - are four short lengths of wire and a Triang coupling - you can throw away the motor and those thick flanged wheels, please :jester:

And they are spot on for OO scale. The wheels from the Airfix 101 are just right for it.

Well the description's  correct

"A model that your friends will not have on their layout - a burnt out or vandalised guards van."

Unfortunately it's a plastic model of a largely timber prototype, so it just looks like partially-melted plastic...

We are beginning to seriously exaggerate!

This common item might be worth a couple of quid for spares in this condition......

Just having a seller name of "ultimatevintagetoys" justifies the ripoff asking price.

What on earth is the seller on about with these two saddle tanks and the 'wrong' facing lions?
