RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted November 3, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 3, 2013 I'd have said I knew where they got their inspiration from due to a story on the BBC News website today. With Michael Caine sat in the car saying, hang on a minute lads, I've got a great idea. Mike.

Given the rarity of the prototype, I'm amazed that such a thing exists. Our friend has excelled himself with this, which doesn't even have a motor. And postage to me in Froggy France would be £300! http://www.ebay.fr/itm/AEI-Western-Australian-Railway-WAGR-2-DO-2-XA-CLASS-LOCO-NILIGARA-BUILDERS-MODEL-/220906416755?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item336f0c6a73 Blimey, I wouldn't pay that for a real one. Mind you, the Australians got the two-stroke diesel working better than Metrovick did in the Co-Bo .

PatB
Your suspicions are correct. Goodness! I may have to track one of those down as a reminder of my old FC. I particularly like the one on the right of the third row down which appears to have the same dodgy, made-up camo paint job and incorrect 7.50-16 tyres that mine came with . Edit: And having now looked, I see there are loads of them on Ebay. Corgi/Husky must have sold a lot more of them tha Land-Rover ever did . I think I feel an impulse buy coming on. Il Grifone
Your suspicions are correct. I must have one lurking somewhere! Die-cast manufacturers have always had a liking for the exotic and rare rather than the mundane (and useful). I have never been able to understand why they have such an aversion to railway modelling scales either, which surely would increase sales?! The 'got to fit the box' mentality? Apparently Lesney/Matchbox would even distort the dimensions to make them "look right" (no they don't!) Edited November 4, 2013 by Il Grifone

Later Hornby (Tri-ang Hornby) Crane base with a track section, and relieving trucks. Almost worth it for parts...if the paint had stayed in the tins!
