Cracking show last year with the Vulcan...doubt I'll get the family to go twice though. Apparently the planes look more alike than trains. How on earth does a Vulcan look like a Spitfire?

Vulcan was a Britannia and a WD 2-8-0.  Spitfire was a Castle and a Battle of Britain.  Does that help?  No, I thought not.

Chris

if that doesn't help, spock was a vulcan and spifire is a beer brewed somewhere you could have seen battle of Britain Pacifics

You seem to be having a bit of a wait there, Chris...?

Yup but perversely not as long as I wanted - would have been good to go up the hill...

Sounds like there's issues going 'up country' problems at Dawlish.

Robin, for the next visitation, am I correct in remembering you wanted me to pack a couple of Merchant Navy and Q1 locos? Oh and the 22s, Schools and King Arthur...

Extract:                                                          ANTB Sub-Committee for the Banning of Inappropriate Motive Power on ANTB

Emergency Meeting 22nd August 2014 7.30 p.m. Held at the Ricoh Arena.

                                                                                                           Notice of Decision

Dear Mr 2ManySpams,

The ANTB Sub-Committee for the Banning of Inappropriate Motive Power on ANTB met in emergency session earlier this evening to consider your request for permission to run further Classes of exotic Southern Railway Locomotives on ANTB and we inform of our decision below and the main reasons for it.

There is no right of appeal and Rule 1 does not apply, but further applications can be made to the Committee after fourteen days have elapsed.

Your application is rejected

1. Whilst the Sub-Committee were not averse to a minor re-enactment of a "Wet Wednesday at Wadebridge"*** by the Orphans of Treneglos Travelling Motive Power Group, during an otherwise quiet week on ANTB, we remain unconvinced that a continual dilution of our strict motive requirements on ATNB is beneficial in the longer term.

2. The Committee have found relatively little or no evidence of Merchant Navy, Schools, King Arthur or Q1 Class locomotives operating regularly West of Exeter on Southern metals. The Committee therefore see no benefit in granting running powers on GWR metals through Brent just because these locomotives cannot legimately appear at Treneglos or at Wadebridge.

3. The Committee grant Class 22 locomotives running powers through Brent, because, however much we would like to forget it, these locomotives are part of our "Hydraulic Family".

They must be run in pairs due to reliability problems.

etc., etc.,

Footnotes:

*** The Committee noted with disappointment the non-appearance of a Beattie Well Tank during the "Wet Wednesday at Wadebridge" sequence. We did not see any members of the O2 Class either, despite our providing a 45xx, a Pannier and a 1366 at great expense.

EU Directive 30099887765/08/2014

It has come to the attention of the commission that a breach of EU law and the European Convention on Human Rights have been perpetrated in the district of Coventry, United Kingdom.

An EU review of a complaint by Mr T M Spams revealed the breaches which were perpetrated by individuals claiming authority on behalf of the state of Brent in the republic of WestCountry.

Mr Spams, who is the commisioner for historic air smoothed wonderfulness, claimed that this self appointed committee had attempted to curtail his activities in persuance of EU directive 234768433/03/2013 - educating the masses in the beauty and engineering prowess of the Southern Railway of England.

Such interference with the democratic process will not be allowed. The so-called ANTB sub commitee is hereby banned from any more subversive activities and instructed to respect the rights of Mr Spams to enjoy the beauty of SR locomotion.

Signed on behalf of Commissioner OVBullied, curator of the Spam Mountain and the oil bath lake.

By the way, your English chocolate, is not really chocolate.

As a matter of hysterical historical fact Merchant Navy Class engines were permitted between Exeter & Plymouth via the GWR route - only goes to prove who was better at building decent railway lines.

Pity the route gets washed away every other high tide though Mike ;-p

Now then, now then, how come Kings couldn't go over the Tamar except on the Saltash Ferry but Merchant Navy Class Pacifics could? :mail:
