RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted August 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2014 Well as can be gathered I spent the evening in the company of 2Manyspams [Chris] and gave him the free reign of ANTB.I hope you enjoy the results as much as I enjoyed his friendly, inspirational, helpful company. It was a pleasure to visit Robin and see ANTB in the flesh yesterday evening. I'm pleased to report that the layout is one of those that doesn't disappoint when you see it for real rather than over the web. The sceniced fiddle is a genius move to get more out of the space. We both spent the evening sharing good humoured banter and taking probably 100s of photos between us. I'm hoping there's a few angles in the shots I took that haven't been seen before. All the rolling stock shewn here is used on Treneglos. All detailed to a high standard .Enjoy. Should be OK Rob as long as folk overlook the absence of front footsteps and cylinder drain cocks on the Spams. I really must fit the RT Models castings and etches I have...

cary hill
The old "Greyhound" looks very graceful on ANTB. Have you got any shots with of it with a green liveried "P Set"?
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted August 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2014 There are some delightful views on ANTB, a testament to Rob's vision and artistic skills. He's very modest about his layout and skills but the whole hangs together beautifully. A few shots of non-SR stuff to start you all off:

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted August 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2014 The old "Greyhound" looks very graceful on ANTB. Have you got any shots with of it with a green liveried "P Set"? There's something about the T9s, their Edwardian elegance. Very free running locos and crews got used to handling trains in excess of their power rating by using downhill stretches to 'rush' banks. Can't have been fun to drive and fire though with that confined and open to the elements cab. I think Rob has a couple with 30719 on the much diverted 3:13pm departure from Padstow. The above photo is a Hornby example with wide cab...

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted August 20, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 20, 2014 A few of the T9s on shed at Tigley... Tommy coped reasonably well with these locos - he thought they were very graceful engines, even though they were the wrong colour.

RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted August 20, 2014 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Next we see 34075 264 Squadron. 34075 - 264 Squadron in post 1957 condition. It was one of the later type built with wider a 9' cab and would have originally had a 5500gal tender to match the cab width. From the 14/9/57 its original wide tender was transferred to one of the rebuilt locos and it received a narrower 8'6" wide 4500gal tender. This tender was one of 5 that retained the high side sheets (raves) until the end. The Hornby model has been renamed and has been fitted with a replacement ashpan casting fixed to the body rather than the rear bogie. The tender-loco gap has been reduced and this is one of the few locos that has managed to retain its front steps whilst on the exhibition circuit!
