hayfield
Well now back online & with the new work shop up & running having built 3 TPO's pic to follow When I was allowed to have a modeling room it was bliss, either not having to pack away everything each time or having the dineing table cluttered. Another benefit is not having to go into the loft to search in my bits boxes. Look forward to your posts and I hope all goes well in your new house. Kenton
That Rover looks particularly fine and the castings crisp - how well did it go together? Has it the ability to pull anything other than itself around the track?
mozzer models
That Rover looks particularly fine and the castings crisp - how well did it go together? Has it the ability to pull anything other than itself around the track? The Rover is to be a static model so can not say the info with the kit say you would need to make some clerances to get it to run at the mo this would not go round curves saying that its a K's kit which the owner stated painting some parts back in 1982 on the way out to the Falkland War which i have striped before starting work the kit has gone together nice so far i have not used any glue just low melt solder with a 25w iron IKB now make the kit with a Profile milled compensated chassis & do motorising kit for the tender plus P4 style wheels
Horsetan
.....IKB now make the kit with a Profile milled compensated chassis & do motorising kit for the tender plus P4 style wheels Aha, so you have built it to the full 28mm gauge. Steve K
That's something truly different - aside from being broad gauge, I'd never heard of a 2-2-2-2 before, but sure enough, there it is, halfway down Wikipedia's page on 4-2-2 . This site never ceases to educate!
mozzer models
well today i have got the lining on to the Rover & its Name Plates Iron Duke plus the handrails/knobs i still have to fit the whistles & brass bits on the smokebox sides plus the backhead them its finished Heres some pics of the Loco with its lining on
BernardTPM
Under the Whyte notation a 2-2-2-2 would be a double single, i.e. two sets of driving wheels each driven by their own cylinders. Crewe built double singles, Swindon did not. This is a 4-2-2. Big, handsome ones too! The model looks good.
mozzer models
Well the Rover is now finished with all the brass work fitted The coal is in the tender & a loco crew on board the loco plus screw couplings heres some pics O & a Happy New Year to you the readers

bertiedog
Very nice, but not powered? I presume not required as they power easily I did two of these, which are very reasonable castings etc, within the usual K's limits. To get haulage, use Mike Sharmans method, a floating rear axle, lightly loaded front axles and weight transfer from the tender to the driving axle centre., result it will haul about 6 coaches, the limit was the small Mashima more than traction. Its to be a display model in spain so is & will not be powered this was a K's kit from the 80's as its been to the Falkland for a War in 1982 with the Man i have built it for But saying that IKB still sell this loco & this is powered by the tender
