Oh wow

At last an accurate 25/1 - my favourite version of class 25 and taking in my top four locos 25032 25040 25242 and 25245.

Looks like I need to start saving money rapidly

If Phil reads this, thanks for the invite to Crewe but unfortunately too much going on at home and at Wythall on Sunday.

Now where is the order form !!

Spoke to the SLW office yesterday, the new 25/1 should be on the website 'in a couple of weeks' but they did take my order for one over the phone.

Disappointingly, the first two I ordered (D7552 and D7666) are in the batch that won't be here until the end of the year 😪

Assume 'end of the year 2024 rather than '23'?

Ah shucks, I have 7552 on order as well, and its little micro-layout is wired and ready to go. With the 24/1s well into next year, that leaves me with something of a dearth of motive power (I'm relying on SLW for all my 4mm stuff). Guess I'll just have to crack on with a bit of O gauge wagon weathering...

25032 at Coalville 25030/31/32 were built in this condition, 25242 lost it's boiler and water tank in 1973. 25032 and 242 were fitted with dual brakes but lacked the body side latches other dual braked locos had.

25 032 in close up,note no boiler water tank.

25032 preTOPS as D5182 was the only one of the trio to appear in plain green with a FYE.

Don't forget 25029 !

There were four of the original "NB" batch and 25242 made it five.

I would really like a GSYP 25/1 but is one in Phil's plans ?

If he did 25040 or 25245 in  TOPS blue I would struggle not to order but is the SLW business model for the customer to keep trying to ring a phone number three days a week rather than clicking on a website ?

Not so, D5181 was also plain GFYE in April 1968.

Class 25 Nos 5159 & 5181 Derby Works April 1968

I would take issue about the lack of air brake hinges on 25032. It clearly had the hinges on the one side affected.
