Carmine presumably ran mixed with maroon for a bit, the same as blue&grey later ran with maroon corridor stock?

Yes, and as the CLs were a later build, the Thompson equivalents survived in otherwise Mark1 formations.

Well, that could sort one end of the mismatch. Couldn't pull a few D5615 bodyshells before they get the yellow sprayed I s'pose?

I'm pondering a Cl 31 and and I'm tending towards 31248 but there is quandary.

According to BR Database 31248 was:

02/02/1974 renumbered from 5676 to 31248
07/1975 Tablet catcher apparatus removed
08/1976 Modified headcode box (which I assume is the replacement with dominos...)

So, which is probably a question for Fran, but might be interesting for the rest of us, will 31248 come with the tablet catcher (17 months) or without tablet catcher (11 months), or please could we have the tablet catcher as an user-fitted part?

I recently purchased a copy of "Diesel Dawn" number 6 "Brush Type 2s, D5500-5699, D5800 D5862, By Gavin Glenister.

And on page 56 there is a photograph of D5835 in Green with SYP, which had a engine rated at 2000HP as it has a different configuration of grills fitted to allow more fresh air into the engine compartment.  The photograph says it was taken in York while the locomotive was undergoing static testing in April 1962. ( I was Born that year).

I also have "Looking Back at Class 31 Locomotive" by "Kevin Derrick" which is another great reference book to have in one's library. On page 72 there is a photography of D5553 in green with SYP, but fitted with " experimental flashing lights". The photograph was taken 1967 but it dose not say where it was taken.

I have posted the photographs as I did not want to get in trouble.

Hi Luke,

The plan of action is the tablet catcher is in the accessory pack so you can add it if desired, giving the loco the maximum lifespan choice for the modeller.

Cheers!

I'll admit that much of this is because I remember being aged 12-13 and wanting some of these models! :)

D5835 became 31302 in TOPS numbers and retained it's extra grilles on the one side right through to withdrawal in faded triple grey.  The extra grille was actually for lube oil cooling and lube oil radiators were positioned there during it's temporary upgrade .

Hi everyone,

It's a bit crudely applied, it's a bit incorrect in places due to factory error, but our first decorated Class 31 has just arrived ahead of Great Electric Train Show this coming weekend. We were going to hold off until the show to reveal it, but we couldn't resist a sneak peek!

The first one to arrive is probably the most demanded and popular 31; a bog standard BR blue Class 31/4.

23841457_WhatsAppImage2022-10-03at5_47_30PM.jpeg.3bdd6ddcc715ecb34f01a86c33a9ac2a.jpeg

The rest of the decorated samples are due in the coming weeks, and we will do a proper update showcasing them then. Naturally, there will be corrections made to this livery application (and indeed the model itself) before production.

In the meantime, check out your local stockist to pre-order yours, or order direct here: https://www.accurascale.com/collections/brush-type-2-class-30-31

Cheers!

Fran

For me, the Class 31 was a fantastic looking loco and an excellent workhorse. Im so looking forward to this model arriving. i have three on order

Never mind the blue blob in the foreground - is that something new in the background with the letters TT quite boldly showing

I spotted that too when I saw the A/S post on twitter. The diagram on the box (if the same box) is definitely not an A3 though!

The box is also covered so it could be another BR wagon about to launch as well.

There once was a time that shenanigans were not a part of marketing, but these days it's all about the background.

Who knows what Accurascale may arrive with at GETS, though a blue 31/4 seems a safe bet.
