EBay madness

I remember many years ago someone casting an eye over the hulks at Barry and commenting that 'they're all restorable at a price'.  Somehow I don't think any price will turn this into anything worthwhile.  They shoot horses don't they?

I don't know. All she needs is new body, chassis and tender...... (you can probably get them for less than the starting bid!)

The item did not sell - I can't imagine why.  :scratchhead:

EDIT

All is not lost - it's been relisted!

Good news everybody - he appears to have plenty more for us to haggle over

To quote from the trail above - 'Awsome'

Do you think he scavenges landfill sites to find these or are they actually all his own handywork?

Well, this is "madness" in some strange sort of way I'm sure, not on behalf of the seller though.

Even though I expect plenty of folks have seen this, I'm sure it'll only serve to further diminish my chances of winning one (I only want ONE, almost don't even care which one <sigh>) by mentioning/posting this...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/Locomotives-/122604/m.html?item=221517268484&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_ssn=ewsclass66

The seller has, count 'em, TWENTY THREE Merchant Navy locos up for sale/grabs, all started a a nice .99 quid.

It'll be a frenzy at closing time I'm sure <sigh> with all of them going for way above market even, since there appear to be a few buyers bidding on ALL of them already!

Oh well :( :scared:

Never understand why they just take a photo of the box, would have been better with a photo of the  loco!.

He is credited madness, in that he has not checked tender types before renumbering! Most of them have the wrong tender! One even has a Light pacific 5,500 gallon tender!

I just hope he doesn't mind spending all day Sunday wrapping them in bubble wrap and putting them in suitable boxes for posting (the worst part about selling stuff)!!

Likewise spending an hour at his local post office on Monday as each one is individually weighed and priced up as the locals in the queue behind him tut and curse

If you tell us which one you want Ian then none of us will bid for it :mosking:

I noticed a Class 20 in his list, with 'damaged' in the title.  The description then says see photo for details of the damage, but the photo is of the loco in the box, so any damage isnt visible!  Very helpful!

You are a bit unfair there, scroll down far enough and there are a couple of clear photos of the loco out of its box.

Besides the box is damaged. :)

This is where a snipeing program is invaluable. You can set it up to bid on every single loco, by putting them in a 'group'. If it fails to win the first then it will then automatically bid on the next in the group and so on until you win one, then it does not bid on the rest. Especially useful when the auctions end a few minutes apart as they do here, and you don't want to risk ending up with multiples!

.....The seller has, count 'em, TWENTY THREE Merchant Navy locos up for sale/grabs....

This is nothing. If you ask "toboldlygo" (of this Forum), I think you'll find he's had all thirty Rebuilt MNs pass through his hands at one time or other, and I think he may also have had all 110 Light Pacifics in their original and rebuilt forms as well......

And both wagon and the sad remains on top suffer from acetate warp..... (Early Tri-ang is for collectors or the bin only!)

Why do they always mess up weather the wagon too?

Thanks for that - when I first looked it was at work, and only the main photo displayed on my work PC!  back at home I can see the rest of the photos!

I'm interested in this recent listing by Rails:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-NE-GREEN-CLASS-D3-4-4-0-LOCO-2000-/201150604866?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ed582a642

The price is a bit stupid and am not really interested in buying it - basically, i'd like to know what it is. Its clearly not a D3 - I own two of them, and a D2, and the cab is obviously not correct. I've had a quick trawl through lner.info to see if I could identify it, but with no luck i'm afraid. My guess is that it is a D2, but that its been fitted with an incorrect cab - the boiler looks more like a D2 than a D3, but the chimney looks suspct as it doesn't seem high enough.

Also, i'm pretty sure this isn't DJH:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OO-GAUGE-KIT-BUILT-LNER-CLASS-W1-HUSH-HUSH-LOCO-10000-/201150604865?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2ed582a641

It looks like someone has tried to copy an existing kit (possible SEF)??

And he is marketing them as a means to "earn some Xmas cash"  What a business opportunity (not)!!

I don't think Il be able to sleep tonight just worrying about missing out on such a valuable, un missable money making opportunity!!!

Who knows, I may even earn enough to buy an equally worthless load of crap on the back of it! :sarcastic:
