Please not in that god awful feckin' livery................................. :nono:

There's a pic already posted on wnxx newspages of a model Colas liveried 60. It looks pretty good. I believe it may have been done by one of our resident painters here on RMW(not me I hasten to add).

Cheers,

Mick

I reckon Big Jim would be up for painting one of them! :D

He's normally quick off the mark with such things.

A well known website is now saying Colas are getting 20  class 60's and they (possibly not all) will be put through the 'Super 60' program. Apparently they are the 'Wabtec 20' mentioned earlier.

Hopefully all 20 will return to service, but why do my 2 EWS 60's have to be included in those being sold (repaint here they come!).

60's are becoming more common on Teesside again. It is more unusual not to have a 60 in the Tees area. Very different from a couple of years ago.

STOP PRESS

.

The Murco refienry at Waterston has been up for sale for three years.

.

Only one firm offer was apparently made, and this collapsed this week.

.

As a result the owners have started a consultation process with the 400 employees and their staff associations/unions with a view to closing the plant.

.

This could spell the end of one of the longest running and best known Cl.60 workings (Waterston - Theale/Westerleigh).

.

Good luck to the employees.

That is a great photo 4630!

Well, spent a few days Oop North at the end of last week. The main reason was the Brake Van tour around Scunthorpe Steelworks which was fantastic! Were we stayed was a short hop from Barnetby so most of our time was spent in and around that area. The day we arrived, Thursday 17th, was excellent with no less than 6 different class members in action between early afternoon to mid evening.

First up is 60040 "The Territorial Army Centenary" heading under Knabbs Bridge with 6E32 Preston Docks to Lindsey Oil Refinery.

60024 heads through Knabbs Crossing with 6E54 Kingsbury to Humber Oil Refinery.

Another oil working seen is 6E82 Rectory Junction to Lindsey Oil Refinery in the capable hands of 60044.

A real bonus was catching a 60 on the Iron Ore circuit, with 60007 "The Spirit of Tom Kendell" obliging on 6K26 Santon FOR - Immingham Ore Terminal at New Barnetby.

One of the oil workings out of Immingham is seen from Knabbs Bridge with 60015 on 6M24 Lindsey Oil Refinery to Kingsbury.

A nice modelable train with a Class 60! 60040 is seen again, this time with 6V19 Immingham Sorting Sidings to Llanwern Exchange Sidings.

Yet another oil working is seen with 60092 at the helm. The working is 6E41 Westerleigh Murco to Lindsey Oil Refinery

Another bonus was a different 60 on Ores, with 60007 being swapped out for 60024. Seen here at Barnetby with 6T28 Immingham Ore Terminal to Santon FOR.

With the next day being Good Friday, we headed to Doncaster which was surprisingly busy until the early afternoon. A quick check on RTT and Barnetby was again the choice place for a pleasant evening spotting. Only one Tug was seen, which was 60015 again working 6M24 Lindsey Oil Refinery to Kingsbury.

After the tour around the Steelworks on the Saturday, we tried Brocklesby Junction, where 60044 is seen working 6E41 Westerleigh Murco to Lindsey Oil Refinery. A look inside the signal box was also had, thanks to the friendly signalman!

All in all, a good few days! The pub next to Barnetby station (Whistle & Flute) is also worth a mention, with the Steak & Ale pie being superb!
