Not just on your end, and I've seen it happen on a couple of posts over time. No idea what causes it.

Thank you. It is porn if you wanted to know.

Talking of Halls and did anyone else see that the owners of 4920 Dumbleton Hall had been sold to Warner's Bros to use in Harry Potter World Tokyo. The last time I saw her was in a right state at Buckfastleigh, so they've done well to get the million pounds reported.

4920 left Devon back in February 2021 and had been at Carnforth  for cosmetic restoration as 5972(II) .

As Hogwarts Castle, it sailed from Southampton in December 2021 so the Japanese have been hiding it for some time.

I could be wrong but I understand that Warners are NOT the new owners, they just lease it. If anyone knows different I would be interested to know.

I agree Robin - but I am determined to wait for the shirtbutton livery.... it's still tempting though :-)

An extract from a bad picture, but it serves the purpose. A chocolate and cream set at Princes Risborough in 1947, behind Hall 6925. The coat of arms is in an unusual place (on a door), or it could just be a coat of arms size smudge on the negative.

The thing is that this is probably the best GW  rtr coaching stock made at this particular moment in time,so there is an overwhelming urge to knee jerk at the first available opportunity before they disappear and buy something that may not be quite your “period” ( if indeed there is or was such a thing ) .Decisons, decisions !

Here's a rubbish photo of an All third in "Twin cities" livery that arrived today:

image.png.dbd37dc9efec798ac2127c27116907d1.png

It's a lovely solid model, quite hefty but not "heavy" heavy.

The brake rodding is very clever. It appears to be connected from the levers at the vac cylinders all the way to both the near and the far brake "coat hanger" things (do they have a proper name?) as per the prototype. But in fact the brake rod that's fixed to the underframe threads into a little hole on the bogie and projects through so that it can slide in and out as the bogie rotates. Then another bit of rodding fixed to the bogie continues on along the same line.

The internal lighting is good in the sense that it's bright enough to show the interior detailing and there's not a sign of any flicker but on the minus side it's too bright to be realistic of course, it's too "cool" coloured and it highlights all the transparent plastic edges around the glazing.

My intention was to use it as a trailer for my SRM in similar livery. Hmmm, maybe I chose the wrong diagram...?

And there's the bolection question...

Interesting to see the Y4's included, I'd rather lost track of their expected delivery date - they've not been showing on Rapido's schedule.

It looks like there's seven items about to hit my payment card then, plus the cost of paying the wife to go somewhere so the she does not see the parcel arrive...

Thanks to Rob for the heads up on The Pannier Papers.  I've managed to pick up volumes 2 & 3 for £5:99 each at Strathwood 👍

Cheers

Excuse the poor camera phone photos but I thought I'd shew you the excellent quality of the packaging for the Accurascale banana vans. These models are really something else indeed. They are superb and look at that underframe detail. More anon.

It would be lovely to have the excuse to run some down a branch line but where these not just run direct from the ports to London? I suppose maybe they carried other traffic?

According to info given by @TrevorP1 of this parish there was an Avonmouth to Cornwall trip with these.😉

A 1953 banana traffic booklet (available from WTT Reprints on eBay) shows a path at 6:10pm from Avonmouth to Tavistock Junction, arrival 11.46.pm. Some of this must surely have got to Devon and Cornwall in individual wagon loads. This website, Somerset Apple is also worth reading. The folk song Green Banana Johnny (Fisherman's Friends version) also refers to Avonmouth bananas.

I had not realised the stone livery didn't last too long.

I'm pretty sure you could run stone and bauxite in the postwar period. @Islesy suggested these for my period and Muz @Graham_Muz would have the stone version.
