Something John @checkrail said yesterday on Stoke Courtenay, inspirational as ever, struck a chord with me regarding bunker first running. Something I must do more particularly on the branch as this @AY Mod photo of six years ago now shews. Small prairie 5551 arrives from Kingsbridge whilst an unidentified Hall 😉 passes with the down milk train. As I'm now using Hunts , a detailed front buffer shouldn't interfere like a normal tension lock does. He has certainly given me some food for thought and small prairies do look nice running this way.

I have been experimenting with soft iron wire to fashion a tension lock loop in the NEM socket- the hunt elite couplings have enough attraction to the wire to haul six free running Hornby coaches, I must try it for ‘goalpost’ loops which look better.
