A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

Are you two talking about some kind of sport?

Sadly no, Tim. The talk is more about stress, disappointment, occasional elation and huge expense. very much like sex. You klnow what I'm on about eh?

Well, I'm very sorry to hear of it, but I am still confused.

Indeed, sometimes, the world passes us by and we fail to recognise its passing.Confusion is perhaps a state of grace . Look at it this way…….I’m still here enjoying my “confusion “.

So, are the hugely expensive ones worth the extra?  Asking for a friend 😉

I usually find it easier to limit one's expectations. That sometimes limits the resulting disappointment, but I've yet to find that this policy leaves me truly elated.

In retrospect I should have took some of the panniers.

Hindsight, the best super-power.

Did they say what changes had been done?

From memory the wheel spokes flare but @Steve Purves would tell your more if you ask on the pannier thread. They certainly looked better and more advanced than I saw at Warley 2023.

Those clouds look post -apocalyptic.

Now do I get the traction engine to match or would it be a too heavy load for a loriot/lowmac.

There are three on the bay for sale right now!

I have some Slides on my Magic Lantern; good cheap price for big big ones.

Did anyone witness the Castle and Hall at the K & WVR Gala? Did a few looks at the Web Cams. Some excellent runs and sounds.

There was also a do at the West Somerset so spoilt for choice?

Do we know when Loriot P wagons first appeared in service? I have a very old fashioned farm tractor I want to load onto something of this kind.

I don’t have Atkins to hand but I think they were an early ‘40s build. @Miss Prism might know.

Further to this eBay purchase in 2020 and the loss of photos in the RMweb crash we now see it progressing with the start of a load. An Oxford Diecast Fowler plough is on the way to some lucky South Hams farmer. I will tie it down after giving the plough a coat of matt varnish to dull its out of the box shiny appearance. Some sellers want 35 sheets for a mint boxed example of the Loriot but patience is usually rewarded if an unboxed example can be sought. The underframe , as one would imagine, is non existent detail wise compared with todays models. Now do I get the traction engine to match or would it be a too heavy load for a loriot/lowmac.

Wiki-Knowall  says the Fowler ploughing engine weighs 21 tons with water tank and coal box full The Loriot can take 25 tons !
