Hi Clive,

Shouldn't there be a trap/catch point there?

Obviously making sure that any "deliberate" derailment by the trap doesn't foul the running line.....................

Any yes, my spray bench is a old sofa in the garden due to go to the tip when i CBA.

Then what will you use?

Mike.

The kids got a new trampoline at Xmas, think it would look good in BR blue myself, but our lass would kill me. After all, she is a manor lass.

Could have been worse, in my day Wybourn lasses had muscles in their spit!

I reckon the only way round it is an A4 cutting mat on a tea tray with a strict rule of no expansion.

My A3 cutting mat on a tray that fits on a laptop tray.

Currently on its own shelf, behind the baseboard kits I've not opened yet.

After 5 minutes of tidying up to eliminate the worst excesses, rather embarrassingly, this is currently the state of play on the new enlarged workbench.

Mike.

When we went to school, we were taught that there were three Laws of Motion formulated by Newton.

This is in fact wrong, there are four. The fourth states that "Any given flat space or area will attract other bodies, until that space is covered".

It's always worked for me.

John.

Blimey Clive,

I thought you had posted a overtly musical version of a Scottish Widows advert for a moment there.

The ending reminded me of this carry on though:

Hi All

My workbench.

002.JPG.852b09db369fa3489d543d0053911d0c.JPG

Somewhere under that lot is a part built Judith Edge kit of an LMS jackshaft drive shunter.

My work area on the layout by Doncaster Junction.

004.JPG.891a64f67decbbbace63d973a17ac20f.JPG

This is after a recent find the missing tools exercise where I also threw out some rubbish.

The over spill area and drawings pile

Another over spill area.

006.JPG.1342f27ffc1f8c111064ddb06eba31da.JPG

An over spill area normally used to lay coach cut and shut sides while the glue hardens.

007.JPG.744be6af616824b9bdcdf479baf73e6f.JPG

A better shot of the Mailcoach LNER Tourist Brake Second Open. None of the parts fit each other, one day I will get very cross with it and it will lose, so far it seems to be winning.

A tidy workbench is an unhappy one. (Stolen from someone else)

For a man who convinced Accurascale that generic cut n shuts are the way forward I am surprised that in none of the pictures, even the one of the carefully assorted tools neatly laid out, there is not a single craft knife or fine saw in sight.  Do you actually have a supplier of your coach bits, like a modeller's C F Booth / Vic Berry?

Hi Woodenhead,

Were you thinking of my bench in a previous guise ?

Hi Mike,

Why don't we all have a competition to see who has the most the most cluttered workbench. First prize could be a goodly sized shoe box for all the useful stuff and a sturdy bin bag for all the rubbish.

Here is my entrant:

DSCF0911.JPG.71046a510dd25e277ad3c4c24abcf471.JPG

Only 33 container boxes, 7 Pullman cars, a Frieghtliner caboose and a class 83. The Pullmans are unfortunately part of my overly extensive "Nearly Started" collection.

Gibbo.

But after this one I was humming .....

99 Freightliner Containers on the wall, 99 Freightliner Containers.
Take one down and pass it around, 98 Freightliner Containers on the wall.

98 Freightliner Containers on the wall, 98Freightliner Containers.
Take one down and pass it around, 97 Freightliner Containers on the wall.

97 Freightliner Containers on the wall, 97 Freightliner Containers.
Take one down and pass it around, 96 Freightliner Containers on the wall.
