  1. The Spontaneous Multiple Unit Generator has spawned again, another one I don't remember buying, a class 150 this time... Makes a change from 108s!

Where can you buy a 'Spontaneous Multiple Unit Generator'?  I'd quite like one!!!

  2. Last night marked my first trip to our club room in 17 months.

  3. How about either giving me a call direct on 01463 234004 or the warehouse on 01234 328792 and I will get whatever the problem is sorted.

In fairness to Strathwood, both phone numbers are on the Strathwood website - https://strathwood.co.uk/pages/about

I thought that looked like a made up word until I looked it up on Google.

  5. Grief, another sprog.

  6. I was minding my own business earlier today, sat in my own railway room, contemplating an aesthetically pleasing pannier tank, when I heard an advertisement on the wireless for the LNER! Yes, the LNER! The effrontery, bringing the name of that railway uninvited, into my own private sanctum!

It's a no through road, which means that it doesn't go anywhere.  Perhaps that is from the time when Flying Scotsman was in bits at the NRM.

What civilised person would own a pannier tank?:D

  9. Users may experience incomplete layouts. Give it a few hours.

If only an incomplete layout could be finished in a 'few' hours!  Incomplete is my normal.

  10. Chris, you might want to check with Accurascale about the KUAs. You may find that they're only available directly and may not show at retailers.

The KUA should be available though Accurascale stockists - I have a set on pre-order at my local model shop.  However, not all model shops stock Accurascale products.

First the public status updates were full of 'private' conversations and now they're being filled up with 'thanks for a thumbs up' statement.  I'm surprised @AY Modhasn't been along with a reprimand yet.

  12. The trouble with "Wanted" ads is that they disappear off of VNC too quickly

  13. Punctuation is great until someone wants you to send other people's random ramblings in a CSV.  Despite your best efforts to use a really unique delimiter, Excel still finds and uses the comma to separate fields.

    1. Dungrange

      Dungrange

But when you import a .csv file into Excel, you can set what delimiter you want to use.  The default is a comma, because that's the most common delimiter in a .csv file, but it can be changed to a colon, tab, space or whatever you want it to use.

What I don't understand is why anyone would want to use a .csv to transfer text.

Maybe it's better this way.  We can write out all of the lyrics in a 'private' way.

  16. You are quite right. I will be reasonable and send my proof of purchase to my legal advisor.

  17. What's the age definition for being middle aged then.

    1. Dungrange

      Dungrange

The older half of the working age population.  The age group who can no longer relate to the youth of today, but who also don't have the same lifestyle as those who are retired.  I think those in their 40s and 50s would most commonly be described as middle aged, but I suppose it could be anyone who acts as though they are in that age group.

  19. I’ve joined this forum in the hope some kind people will understand my plight. My husband passed away and I’m left with a lot of OO gauge items I’m not sure what to do with. I will be posting pictures of things I have no idea what they are and hope you can tell me what they are and I can do my research. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear of your loss.  I'm sure that there will be many people on here who can help you identify what your late husband bought over the years.

However, it's probably better setting up a thread on the forum rather than posting a status update (as you have just done) since these can be overlooked quite easily and they are replaced by someone else's status update fairly quickly.  They then become difficult for others to find.

  20. Hi Will, my name is Mike and I live near Langs Beach, some 40 minutes south of Whangarei. Currently building a model of a Scottish layout, including a near scale copy of Ferryhill loco shed, Aberdeen in "OO". You can get hold of me on 0210570003 if you're interested in touching base. 20200723_095539.jpg.ae4489919899ddd40fd6d94f72f21e25.jpg

  21. If unavailability of rtr EM points forces you to build C&L points kits you might want to consider P4 which has a better appearance and performance when running through the V.  Wheels do not drop in as they do with OO and EM, which is really just wider OO.

just a thought which I did not want to put on the thread as would inevitability break down to an EM versus P4 argument.  P4 costs about the same as EM......

    good luck!

  22. Is it 0 Gauge or O Gauge?

    1. Dungrange

      Dungrange

Yes, but the pronunciation of 0 in a phone number is usually given phonetically as as 'Oh' hence verbally the gauge being referred to in the same way as if it were O Gauge.  However, I believe the correct (or at least original) written form is numeric.  However, I realise that along the way, both seem to be used interchangeably with O becoming more popular in the same way as language evolves over time.  I think that is because the more recent gauges have used alphabetic characters (T, Z, N, S etc).  Interestingly, I've noticed that the Americans tend to refer to their most popular scale as HO, while the Europeans tend to refer to their most popular scale as H0.  I'm European.

  23. Is it 0 Gauge or O Gauge?

    1. Dungrange

      Dungrange

0 Gauge (in the same way as it's 00 Gauge and H0 Gauge).  It's derived from the original numeric gauges 1, 2 and 3 of which the number zero was the next logical step.
