@rapidoandy - the dear fellows on the Brighton Circle have advised that Poitiers should be Westinghouse fitted in its post-1890 condition, so the livery should be green lined red, rather than plain green. Do you know what version you'll be producing?

Oh. I might have to change my pre-order.

I don't suppose that you could update you list with the approximate dates that each livery / version is appropriate for ?

It would be helpful for we who have limited referenced available.)

Thank-you.

( That also applies for the Train Times Model Shop 2 versions. )

No, I think not. Rapido's publicity is illustrated with a photo of Poitiers in lined goods green and with Westinghouse pump outside the cab side sheet:

Leghorn is illustrated by a photo showing the same condition but not so well-turned out:

The lining can just be made out; if anything the red lines bordering the black are clearer here than the black itself, whereas on Poitiers they're hardly visible. Since both engines are Westinghouse-fitted one expects the red lines bordering the black.

Since these photos have been used to illustrate the models, one presumes this is the condition in which the models will be finished.

The specifications confirm this, stating:

E1 No.127 ‘Poitiers’

LBSCR goods green

Stroudley boiler and chimney

Wooden brake blocks

Original style smokebox door

Condensing pipes fitted

No coal rails

Plus lots of other locomotive specific details

and

E1 No.122 ‘Leghorn’

LBSCR goods green

Stroudley boiler and chimney

Wooden brake blocks

Original style smokebox door

Condensing pipes fitted

No coal rails

Plus lots of other locomotive specific details

For avoidance of doubt, there is no plain green livery. Unfitted goods liveried locos had plain 1.5" black lining. Fitted locos had a half inch red band either side of the black.

I hope that this helps.

Best wishes

It's finally time to announce the identities of our Exclusive LBSC Lined Black E1s!! We will be producing 2 locomotives

The first, number 113, which was nice and local, spending some time at Eastbourne. In this condition is it suitable from c.1910 until c.1928 when it received it's Southern livery and a renumber to B113

The second loco will be "Loco Dept. New Cross." Formerly number 111. In this livery it is suitable from June 1908 until June 1922 when it was renumbered 611

Hi,

Looking forward to your E1, the version I am intending getting is 32694, I was wondering will it carry a shed allocation plate of 70I Southampton Docks as that was its last shed.

 Thanks and regards Fred

RMWeb are not making an E1, nor any other models. Rapido is the manufacturer. Suggest address your question to them - they don't bite!

It's not an unreasonable place to ask the question - it appears that @rapidoandy and others do look here and the answer would be of general interest. (Though note to @Fredo: tagging the person to whom the question is directed would probably help in eliciting a response.)

Didn't spot any hint of an E1 on the stand at Warley yesterday - or did I miss something glaringly obvious ? 🙄

Only on the screens, not received engineering prototype yet.

Disappointed Rapido follow the herd in having polished copper pipes on unlined black BR workaday minor steam locos.

The only place I ever saw polished copper pipes in the 1950s was in posh gents' loos.

Otherwise a nice looking model.

Those pictures shown back in January were only CAD renders - nowhere near being livery samples - so I'm sure the folk at Rapido will have had time to reflect on the error of their ways.
